Kalatel dvmre 10-ct-320 ethernet settings
Robocam replied to Robocam's topic in Digital Video Recorders
rory, i just disconnected the cpi piece of crap and used a 12v dc 500ma power adapter from radio shack and perfect picture and no bars. so it is not the wiring or the kalatel or the camera......why does pro security warehouse sell such crap and cost me a fortune in time and shipping.....what would be the problem with just getting 8 inexpensive 12v dc 500 ma adapters and use these???? any problems with this method? thanks -
no just plastic to wood. i tried a radio shack 12v dc 500ma adapter at the same location where the cpi unit is and bypassing this unit got great reception with no bars. now i know it is the crap cpi. why does pro security warehouse sell such crap.....this will not improve their reputation.

i plugged in my camera directly into tv and dont see any rolling lines. could this be the power source. paid $157 for this. when i first started it i hear a loud pop but then plugged in again and worked fine. just thought this was just a starting problem with new device. should i send this back and get an altronix or something. this one is a brand that is not really quoted much. thanks -
Kalatel dvmre 10-ct-320 ethernet settings
Robocam replied to Robocam's topic in Digital Video Recorders
they are all 12vdc and they are the dvr is plugged by svideo cable into hd tv monitor and I also have a 21 inch dell flat panel monitor for my computer and whether i look at my ethernet view or my hd tv i see the rolling pattern from bottom to top of my screen. i googled and someone said this may be power supply issue. just bought a brand new $157 CPI model ps-16dc power supply from pro security warehouse. i will try one camera powered by a small 12volt adapter directly in to my hdtv to see if i see this pattern. thanks -
i recently installed a kalatel dvmre 10 port and sony ssccd43v cameras and i am getting a faint rolling line pattern for all cameras and for all monitors like my main monitor and my computer monitor. anyone know what this is and how it can be fixed? thanks

Kalatel dvmre 10-ct-320 ethernet settings

Thanks Rory. You have been extremely helpful. One other question. I installed my kalatel and sony ssccd43v cameras yesterday but i am getting some faint rolling line patterns from bottom to top of screen on all of my cameras and on my main monitor and when I see it on my computer. Can this be fixed somehow? thanks -
Kalatel dvmre 10-ct-320 ethernet settings
Robocam replied to Robocam's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Rory, once again, thanks for the feedback. I did discover the proper IP address in one of the kalatel sys info menus. It appeared to change when I changed some ethernet settings. Once I found the real IP address, I am able to use WaveVue pro and Wavelet. One other thing. The manual says something about connecting to wavebrowser via an Internet Explorer access by putting my IP into the address line. I have not been able to get this to work. What am I doing wrong??? Thanks -
I just purchased 8 sony color mini dome ssccd43 cameras for outside use. These will all be under soffits on my house and not exposed to direct rain per se. I live in Nebraska that can get quite cold in the winter and subzero temps. I have looked at other weatherized cameras from panasonic, but these indicate identical operating temps. Is there a reason to spend $400-$500 on a weatherproof camera vs. the $230 I spent on the sony ssccd43 mini domes??? thanks
-
what is exview? never heard of this. thanks
-
Rory, I got them for $230 shipped each and bought 8 of them. I just lit up my property with some high pressure sodium lights and this will help. I liked the sony because of the price, the variable range, the auto iris, etc. Seemed like a good deal. I probably would pay a huge amount more just to get one with a seal. thanks that speco one looks huge at 3 lbs but has some very good specs with A/I, varifocal, weatherproof, vandal resistant, and 1/3 had lens. Is this a good value? It would only be a little more than the sonys i am shelling out for?? thanks

want suggestions on how to seal a sony sscc43v color mini dome that is not weatherproof. any suggestions on gasket material to use. can caulk the back holes, but dont want to use a caulk on the dome base or where the dome attaches to the base because of accessibility for adjustment. thanks
-
Were can i get some silicon gel packets and any recommendations on how to better seal (gasket material?) a sony sscc43v that is not weatherproof rated? It would cost another $150+ per camera to get the weatherproof rating and this would only be the IP66. thanks for the help. sorry for causing so much frustration, but I dont want to blow 2k on these cameras and then have to purchase another 3k worth. better to be safe than sorry. thanks also, if there is any other cctv forum or similar to such forum on security systems i would be glad to go there and stop bugging you guys.....I googled and cannot find any cctv forums. thanks

I have seen very good deals on ebay for Kalatel dvr units with 80 gig hard drives. Any way to swap out the original hard drive for a 250 or 300 gig hard drive? Any programming necessary or do you just need to do an image copy to the new drive? (I know it voids warrently but I would just place the original drive back in for repair service). Any help on how to do this would be rewarded with pm. Thanks

tested the ip and it worked. could not do the normal mode because someone else connected. what is a cab file? Can you give me some detail on how i could set up a geocities account and write the cab file so that I can go there and view my cameras from any computer? This way I would not have to have a laptop or software at the location.....seems much simpler to me for quick views of my property. thanks Rory, you have been most helpful.....I must say I am more of a Carribean person than a cold and frigid Nebraska one......I love vacationing in cancun every year...the Bahamas sounds just like heaven.....btw what do you do for a living and how long have you been there??? thanks
-
Rory, I am still confused about the geocities thing. Could I just go to this Ip address below and then put it my ip into ivuepro and see me cameras? If not tell me the easiest way to view my cameras from other computers connected to the internet. When I go on vacation or to someone elses house, or at work I will have access to a computer with internet. I want to be able to view my cameras from these locations though they are not loaded with any software in particular. thanks for the help, you have been great. http://www.geocities.com/ivuepro/

Im not quite sure how then the weatherproof model is going to help at all because no matter what seal they have there is going to be some trapped air in the dome and therefore we are back to square one.......the only real difference would be the heater aspect and if you dont have a heater you dont have a true weather proof model.....does this make sense???
-
Rory, the simplest method looks like that writing cab file to geocities web site and then just going to that site from a remote computer internet connection and putting in the ip. Then i would not need any laptop or software at the remote location? How do i create and write this cab file to geocities???? thanks for all the help. just looking for the easiest way to see my home from any connected internet site without the need for laptop. When I am away from home the most likely scenario is going to be ability to use the internet from provided computer.

Well....there will be no difference between a weatherproof and nonweather proof camera (given that there is no heater) in them forming or not forming frost on the dome. The seal would not prevent this anyway. The dome will be under a soffit and it will be hanging upside down and therefore, regardless of air tight weather seal or not, there is not going to be a high probability of significant moisture defying gravity and going up through the base of the dome bubble and getting into the camera. Any external moisture is going to either evaporate or drip to the ground with the effects of gravity. I cant see external water defying gravity to get inside even a non weatherproof housing as long as it is not taking direct hit from elements.....does this make sense??? Even on the non weatherproof sony's there is going to be some form of seal at the base of the dome where it contacts the base. I cannot believe that these would be so flimsy as to not have some seal be it weatherproof not. Again what appears to be the only essentail factor would be the heater and I spoke with guy selling weatherproof panasonics who indicated they do fine up in Minnesota even without a heater.

so....the only thing i would not be able to do if i upgraded to bigger hard drive is connect to a web server? With the upgrade, I should be able to access my dvr over my lan and access my dvr over the internet? I dont think you answered one other question and that is can if my dvr is connected over my lan, would i be able to connect via the internet, lets say in cancun, to my dvr without using the wavereader or other proprietary software??? thanks
-
I am a little new to this so bear with me. I want to connect to my computer from other locations like my office or maybe when i am on vacation. if i upgraded the hard drive on my own would i still be able to do this? I would also like to be able to connect to my home computer which will be networked with my kalatel 10 port dvr. Can i do this without loading any software onto the remote computer? I am not quite sure i understand the difference between my own web server and just connecting to my computer from a remote location? thanks

I am a newbie so bear this in mind. I get the impression that some of you are saying that dome cameras can form condensation internally and then fog up the dome. Well if that is the case, there will be no difference between a weatherproof camera and a non weatherproof regardless of watertight seal. Given that both cameras have no moisture entry externally (mine will be under soffits) these cameras will function no differently as to condensation formation internally unless I am missing something. Regardless of a 100% weatherproof seal, it appears that you are saying that condensation will form inside of the dome unless you have a heater unit. The key appears to be the heater. Also, you are using the interior of a car window analogy which appears to be a very poor comparison point because of the rapid and considerable heat/cold changes from getting in out of a car and breathing from numerous individuals. The internal dome of a dome camera may get warmer and may get colder, but this will be within a relatively sealed environment (even with the non weatherproof) and only very gradually over a period of hours. Tell me where I am wrong here?? And if I am all wet: What is a weatherproof dome and can you give some brand/model recommendations that avoid this problem? thanks for the help

So, would I be able to swap out a 7200 drive for a much larger unformatted 7200 one and still use the the wave reader software??? thanks this way i could pick up a 16 source unit with an 40 gig drive on the cheap and then throw in a 300 gig drive. Is there nothing on the hd when it is started up fresh from the factory? thanks
-
Is there anybody that can tell me whether they have used something like or similar to the mini dome ssccd43 in a climate such as Nebraska and that it worked ok in a soffit shielded application like mine? thanks
-
If you cant use the web server option, it would be next to useless for me. Thanks for the feedback, but is there anyone out there who can tell me whether lets say an 80 gig hd unit can be upgraded to 250 or 300 gig unit by the user and have all the functionality of the original unit? thanks
