Hello, I'm setting up a temporary security camera system for a site with no WiFi. Cameras will likely be moved regularly, hence I'm looking for cameras that record straight to SD card. I will be able to visit the site every few days to change cards etc. I need to be able to set cameras up on site (adjust view, zoom etc), ideally via an Android app. I've found a number of cameras that claim they can record straight to SD card and can be set up via an app: Reolink RLC-411WS Reolink RLC-410S IdeaNext 1901 HikVision DS-2CD2635F-IS Can these be set up directly from the app though? i.e. without connecting through a WiFi network? If the above cameras can't, does anyone know of any cameras that can? Additional requirements: optical zoom, high resolution, infrared. Any advice on cameras or setup would be much appreciated, thanks in advance.

I never mentioned the internet, i think it's you that's confused. I think you can use that thing as a normal router. Not the internet. Anyway that was an example, a portable router would do the trick i think.

As a router not a power source

I guess this might work: https://www.amazon.co.uk/TeckNet-Portable-External-Repeater-Smartphones/dp/B006ZZPDV0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1472736993&sr=8-1&keywords=portable+wifi+router+battery

I'm not confused. I can't have the cameras running through WiFi routers. I can't power a router if there's no power on site. Could you not use a phone as a WiFi router? Well I'm flexible. What do you think I should be budgeting?

Around £100 ideally. You can get some pretty big power packs. I will be able to change them daily. Cameras only needed for night time filming. There is the possibility of attaching to the mains electricity. This might be easier but I still need to confirm. The main point is that they need to be set up and be able to film and record without being connected to WiFi.

Thanks but that's not really what I'm after. I don't need alerts. I do need high quality footage and a zoomable lens. Cameras will be well out of reach so no risk of theft.

Hi tomcctv, thanks for the response. Site is quite big, cameras may be quite far apart. At least 4 cameras needed at first. Site is derelict so no WiFi or power, I'm planning on using 12v power packs. I thought you might need a local network. Could I not connect via a WiFi hotspot? Just to get the cameras set up? I just need to be able to check they're pointing at the right things, adjust the zoom and set them to record. They don't need to be monitored live. If the cameras I mentioned won't work, what would you suggest?
