you are absolutely right about resolution. But since you mentioned 320x240 in an earlier posting, I simply assumed it was understood that we are not talking anything more than that. At 4CIF, GV800 will not do 120fps total. Thanks for bringing that up!

kensplace, you are right. PAL is 25fps, and NTSC is 30fps. You should not be able to click it more than 50 times in a second if you are using PAL signal, in playback. As for 1, 5 9, and 13 giving better results...yes it uses 4 chips, so that is the only explanation. However, technically its not supposed to happen. The software "is supposed to" do the recording at a total of 120fps regardless of the input port. I have checked a single camera and was able to count 60 clicks before the clock turned one second.

ICRealtime – The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly
CCTVConsultant replied to DaveM's topic in Digital Video Recorders
AHHH...the power of internet and forums! After mostly good posts and comments from the most of you and a few "way out of line" posts and comments, 2 customers were helped and their issues were actually resolved! Awesome!! Congratulations to CCTV Forum!!! -
I'd love to know how it works out. Just to be sure and your piece of mind, you can also ask Geovision directly and they should be able to verify the fps.

capz, yes to your last question. anything behind the gigabit switch will be able to take advantage of the available gigabit bandwidth.

All GV-800 cards will record a maximum of 120fps regardless of number of channels. So, if you are only using 4 channels, use could get a GV-800-4 and get the same result as using only 4 channels on a GV-800-16 card. Divide the max fps by the number of active channels on that system, and that gives you the fps of each camera.

What do i need for my computer

How many channels of video do you want to capture (input) simutaneously? And what the specs of your current PC? That would help us here to know where to start. -
Quality Standalone versus PC Based
CCTVConsultant replied to EgbertSouses's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Good. You will like it more than a standalone. For PC-people standalone machines sort of have a "dumb" feeling. Can't do much with them. We manufacture both but I still love PC-Based systems if they are built right. I see you are doing some back and forth on another thread. Goodluck with getting the rest of your answers. BTW, stick with 24VAC power supply for your cameras. They perform better for longer runs and usually less problem with voltage drops as well as current supplies for IR cameras. For your application, I'd stay away from IP cameras. So far, you are on track. BTW, did you get the GV1240X 8 or 16 Channel card for $980? -
Quality Standalone versus PC Based
CCTVConsultant replied to EgbertSouses's topic in Digital Video Recorders
For $1800, you should be able to make a kickass PC-Based system for 8 Channels of video. I wouldn't recommend doing that on a regular basis if you are a dealer and reselling machines all the time. There's alway value in getting machines from distributors/importers. They offer service and support that will come up if you stay in business for a while and you will start to appreciate their work. However, if you need just one machine, and you know how to build a good pc, and enjoy doing it, there's nothing wrong with that. Personally I am not a big fan of IC Realtime machines. But that's just me. -
The easiest way to verify recording rate is by playing back a clip and go frame by frame. Watch your time/clock on the screen of the playback software- you should be able to see 30 frame changes before the timer rolls one second. Just click one frame at a time and start counting your clicks, you should be able to click 30 times before it reaches the next second.

Banjamin, GV-800 card will give you 30fps per camera if you are using only 4 cameras. Did you check individual cameras's settings to make sure they are set to record at 30fps each?

What is the highest CCTV camera resolution?
CCTVConsultant replied to cctv_addicted's topic in Security Cameras
Since there are so many knowlegeable people writing here at this forum, I was wondering if there is a way to send in a sample camera for review by the experts. Its a new camera we are trying to develop and could use any feedback and/or comments from the experts here. Any suggestions on how to go about doing that? - Thanks.
