I am looking into getting an NVR in the upcoming weeks and need to determine which is the best way to go. I currently have this in my cart, Hikvision DS-7616NI-I2/16P 16CH IP Network Video Recorder Integrated 16 POE Embedded Plug & Play 4K NVR [2016 New Model]. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01BXOPV0K/ref=ox_sc_act_image_3?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=AUKQTJ8MDYFA2 Along with that, I have 7 of these cameras: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B012IE4GNC/ref=crt_ewc_img_dp_5?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A2MLIBVIM11JW8 I currently own 3 ONVIF cameras that I would also add to the 7 that I would be purchasing leaving me with 6 open ports for cameras in the future, which is more than enough. My question is about the NVR and brand - specifically if I should/could get anything better for the ~$450 price tag? POE is a must and 12 cameras is a minimum. Need a way to be able to auto backup data to a remote location and believe that Hikvision has a tool to do just that. Anyone want to convince me to spend my money on another setup? The NVR and 7 cameras I have selected put me at about the $1200 range, and thats without the two hard drives I will need to add in.

Awesome I will check it out I just wasn't sure if the client could be installed independently. I didn't want to have to install the whole thing on another machine.

I have looked at that, as well as iSpy, and netcam viewer and a few others. I run milestone XProtect for my NVR and don't want a big bulky app that includes a ton of stuff on a system that is jsut used to display the live camera feed.

Can anyone recommend some software I can run on my computer to see all of my IP cameras in a grid or cycle view? I use milestone x protect for my nvr and while it comes with software to view live/playback, I'd like to just install a viewer on a pc hooked up my home living room tv. I used an Apple TV app called WebcamHQ which worked okay, but with 7 cameras running, it lagged pretty bad and often cut out. Just curious if there are any apps I can run on my pc to pull them up, no recording needed on it as my nvr handles that.

I bought a system from NightOwl ( http://nightowlsp.com/products/complete-security-systems/hd-security-systems/4-channel/nvr10-441.html) which is working fine with its current setup. However, after installing everything, there are a few spots around the house I wasn't able to capture. Instead of returning the NightOwl 4 port and getting another with 8 or 16 ports, I am trying to use the IP cameras that came with it on a home built NVR I am setting up with BlueIris.. I can see the IP addresses and ports listed in the nightowl NVR application but any way that I try to connect to them directly is failing. RTSP works fine when using the IP address of the NightOwl NVR but since I will be taking that out of the equation, I need to find out how I can access these IP cameras directly through other software. Any thoughts on how I should approach this?
