Hello all,
I'm new here obviously and am seeking some guidance. I want to install a 4 camera system at an apartment building I manage (2 outside camera, 2 inside). I got a quote for this from a local company and the cost immediately invigorated my DIY spirit. I work in tech and am confident I could do this all alone but am looking for some advice on brands/types.
So 2 outside, 2 inside... all need to be vandal proof, probably the dome style. Looking for something affordable to start out with. I want good remote viewing capability via a web interface (has to work on a Linux computer) and android app. MP does not need to be huge, distance is short. No need to move the camera remotely or anything fancy. Looking for basic surveillance capabilities.
1. What NVR system offers the best app for remote viewing? Are there 3rd party apps that work with most NVRs? Or does the NVR not matter... the apps connect directly to the cameras?
2. What NVRs are most reliable/supported well? There are so many I'd like to go with what has proven itself.
3. Same with cameras... what are the popular brands people go with on here? Does the camera brand need to match the NVR?
4. Are NVR web interfaces well supported across browsers? If I need IE then it won't work, but if most are compatible with Chrome or Firefox I should have no problem.
So an affordable, well supported, reliable, 4 camera IP system with good remote viewing capability.
Sorry for the beginner questions, I appreciate any feedback, thanks!
Matt
