lt is all one cable and splits at the end so you can connect to the bnc and power feed of the camera
-
existing is powered cable with power connector, l dont know if is the same as rg59 with power (no power connector)
-
thanks for the tips .l think l am going to run all new cable as l think l am going to keep just one of my old cameras, however what do you do with outdoor connections (silicone?)
-
less than 75 feet, unsure of the rating as it was called siamese cable with power lead.
-
what do l do about the bnc connections outdoors?is there a way to protect from elements?
-
what about the existing leads l have with my plug and play cheaper cameras, they have a power connector that plugs to the connector on the wire.Is it the same rating of wire so if l do cut the lead off l will have two wires to connect to my better camera.Am l thinking the right way or should l run completely new cable,it seems a shame to run wire again where l have existing.!!

forgive my newbie question but l would like to know if the power supply for 8 channel cameras is a box with 8 inputs and 8 outputs and the supply/power is just one plug feeding these inputs ie (does it just plug in to a regular outlet?) l looked at the altronics supply but l dont see a plug, lf not how, does it get powered. l am guessing you feed the box from one outlet(cord with plug) and then you connect the 8 cameras with the black and red wire to the terminals?therefore you only need one plug and not eight???

newbie, need advice for new camera wiring
sf1964 replied to sf1964's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
so thats a bns fitting for video and red and black for power? Does that mean l have to splice the cable (of the siamese) ie take the fitting off and expose the wires in order for me to connect to the camera? ie use the existing siamese cable but expose the wires? -

l have looked everywhere at dvrs, this is one l have not seen before,l am thinking of this one or the 8 channel with remote and cdrw from the same compny.l am using their 4 channelw, remote that was the dvr l was trying to get the software for in another post (bar/niteclub)for you to see my bar.Myonly reservation would be the record speed for 8 channels? would that be enough or it would give me a choppy playback picture? -
here is the link rory regarding the camera switching to black and white. If it does switch is the resolution god enough for my needs? http://www.spytown.com/provcvc6805.html

l have been reading most of the threads and various recommendations l just want to make sure before i buy.l have a college bar where id checking at the door is imperative, currently have a o.ooo3 lux model kg 190 ex exview hi per ccd, wacthing people enter the door and having there id checked.I am going to change to a speco6805 ex day night bullet w/4-9mm varifocal lens, reason being because we have various light sources ie tvs around bar, neon lights and door opening and closing showing our outside lights.I also want to be able to have details of faces and colours and of course a crisp picture.Secondly l was rcommended the panasonic cp-474 super d2 as the pan 974 is around twice as much $800 and he thougt this model would do the job fine. I want to put 8 cameras total with hi res recording to last me for a week,so l am upgrading my standalone linux samsung dvr 4cam input w/remote access to abigger one (any suggestions ie kalatel seems to be the choice of the pros or even the new one nadatel that is coming out).l would also like a cd-r or dvd burner for quick archiving for police evidence. l would appreciate any input about the cameras and dvr or even a better solution.
