I would suggest using a different pair for video and make sure that they are + to + and - to - at both ends.

Sounds like power problem, if the runs are 500ft with what Power..12vdc or 24vac... may not get enough to power the cameras properly.

Test with ohm meter to see if it is the cable, might want to check bnc connectors then check your cable. How long are the runs?

Just thought I would ask you all, How do you like using the bnc pigtail or dongle connector on some dvr's versus straight bnc connectors on the back of the dvr's? Is there more of a stress factor using the dongle? And for any who have not checked lately we have added a couple of new cameras and a dvr and soon to have power supplies.

Rory, did you adjust the settings for the color settings on the Nuvico? Under the special in menu is a setting for color, black and white and auto. Been so bust running and I finally had time to ask this.
