Have you tried focus adjustment for night time, a lot of those cameras need to be focused for night mode. -

I have used both and think very well of them, I think the newer version is a little more weather resistant. -
Try hitting the cancel button on your dvr to get rid of the icons then you can check to see if you are stilll getting vid loss.
