  1. Would'nt I need to upgrade to the nvr software, in order to stay with Geovision? I really hate the Geovision interface (at least the version I have 8.3) and the fact that you basically have to run another app to view recorded material.
  2. In our day care center we are currently using 8 analog camers connected to a Geovision gv-800 card. I would like to make the switch to an ip system. I recently purchased two Acti 4201 poe cameras and a poe switch, now I need some nvr software. I also already have a dual core machine that I can use. I was interested in Exacq Start but I understand that you can only run that on their appliance, is that true? We will also need at least three concurent connections to the cameras from a combination of client or web interface. I am now willing to consider any other vendor. Any resellers feel free to pm me. Also is there a solution without purchasing a video encoder that will allow me to use both the analog and ip cameras, (hybrid?)? Thanks.

Help me find a decent camera.

Hopefully someone can help me. I have installed some cameras in a daycare. The images in my opinion are terrible. I purchased some bullet cameras ($30-$150) from the internet. I currently view the cameras via the internet. I am unsure if the problems are the cameras or the dvr card, even though I am leaning toward the cameras being the problem. Can someone just point me to a camera under $200 with a decent resolution. Any dealers if you pm me I will give you access to the site so you can see what the cameras look like live and make recomendations. Thanks Here are my specs below. Dell optiplex gx270 1gb ram Geovision GV 650 one BW bullet camera from pal_vid_.om one Color bullet from same source. once night vision ir from same source.

Got my gv800 on Ebay :(

I just purchased a gv800 and had the exact same problem. After reading several posts in the forum, I was convinced that I had purchased a clone. Tried everything, new cameras, new video card, new computer, formatting, power supply. The problem turned out to be bad cables. I made the cables myself using crimp-on connectors. I cannot believe the cables I made were that bad. To test I purchased a cacle from RatShack and now everything works perfectly. It may be worth a try for you.
