Hello, I have one analog camera and 15 hd-sdi cameras, all should be connected to hd-sdi dvr. Will analog camera work if connected to hd-sdi dvr, is any solution to make it work ? Don't want to deal with hybrid hd-sdi system, only one analog camera. Thank you in advance.

How to connect analog camera to HD-SDI DVR ?
highjoke replied to highjoke's topic in General Digital Discussion
Thank you ALL for your replies. I cannot convert this particular camera to hd-sdi, because the camera is a wireless elevator's one that goes with rg59 or cat5 cable w/video balun. But I've found a converter on ebay that will do a conversion from analog to hd-sdi signal. -

Hello, Tried to replace outdoor camera and install a new one, but it seems to be a problem with the existing cable (runs about ~200') from office down in the garage and up to conduit outside. It's pretty a long run and want to make sure if it's possible to test the coax cable and may be even to find an exact point of breakage/shortage. Can someone to recommend me a good tool for cable testing. Thank you in advance.

L1350 Elevator Camera with Wireless CCTV Video Transmission
highjoke replied to highjoke's topic in Security Cameras
I've completed a job recently where wireless elevator system (transmitter/receiver) were installed. The building has 6 floors and a video signal was very clear. We've used an existing rg59 cable from office to the elevator and installed a new wire only in elevator shaft to the receiver (~5 feet). The new corner camera was installed in elevator cabin and connected to the transmitter at the bottom of the cabin. -

Hello, I'got called from one of my clients and asked to take a look at the camera in elevator. I heard that only elevator company allowed to do a work in elevator cabin. I am in NY. Can anybody give any information on that ? Can I perform a camera test and replace it if it's not wiring issue ? Thank you in advance.

First of all, want to thank everyone who jumped in and sent a response, it's greatly appreciated. Let me give a little bit more details. When I came on site, the outdoor camera already lost video. The power was normal (~12.7 V), tried to connect 2 different cameras (no video), tried a different BNC connectors (no progress). Now about Sperry coax/cat5 tester: it's giving me a tone even if the wire is damaged, not sure if it can be used when the goal is to find if the wire is damaged, it can only be used for finding a correct wire from the bunch, but it's not what I am trying to achieve here. -

That's what I did, when ran a test: 1. connected a coax adapter from the Sperry receiver to rg59 cable on one side and touched a center copper on another side with the tester - tone heard (all is normal) 2. the rg59 wire was damaged (I cut center conductor somewhere in the middle) and connected the same way as I did in step 1 - tone heard (same tone again) Not sure if I've troubleshooted the correct way, please let me know. -

I've bought a Sperry coax tester, but I don't think it will be useful for what I am trying to do. Can I use it to find if rg59 cable is damaged (no video on DVR side from a camera). I did a test and cut the cable on purpose, but the tester still gave me the tone, thought it should not give any if wire is damaged. -
Hello, I am planning to buy a new rotary hammer drill mostly for concrete, brick, masonry jobs (1/2,3/4, 1'' holes) for wiring and conduit installations. Have done a little research and found this model "Bosch 1 in. SDS Plus Rotary Hammer": http://www.boschtools.com/Products/Tools/Pages/BoschProductDetail.aspx?pid=11255VSR Just wondering if somebody knows anything about it and can share the opinion. Thank you in advance.

Rotary hammer drill advise
highjoke replied to highjoke's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Not really sure if I need to spend 100$ more on RH328VC (299$ in Home Depot). The only difference I've found between those 2 models is Amperage and Blows per minute. -

Thank you for your quick response. I will definitely try it. -
Hi all, Want to post it as FYI: The appointment was setup with elevator's company, it was agreed that technician will come and bring both camera's wires inside the cab, so I will be able to troubleshoot and fix the problem. On the day of appointment technician called me and I've confirmed one more time whats needed. He called me back after 20 min and said that problem has been found and fixed (power cable at the top of cabin was disconnected). Nice and easy!!!

Thank you for your response Tom. Hope that somebody from NY will have a chance to add some on that. Want to be on safe side.

Can I just replace the camera (take old camera out and install a new one) in a cabin without calling elevator company ?
