    Best Capture Card

    You can try HikVision http://www.hikvision.com/en/zhichi1.asp?tid=13&bgclassid=12&classid=13&act=d
  2. You need to setup & forward the ports for the DVR in the router to allow remote access from the WAN.
  3. Try changing some settings for testing, I had this problem a long time ago but unfortunately I cant remember what I changed. 1. Under the User tab in the Setting Screen, uncheck "Apply Control level" 2. In the User Settings Screen Create a new "Non Admin User" and Select all options except "Admin-Mode" and uncheck the box next to "Time". If this doesn't solve the problem, let me know and I'll put my system back together and do some testing. What version Software and Card are you using? P.S. If you are logged in at the server in Admin Mode, you cannot remotely access the server as Admin.

Need to enhance EyeMax video files

On the Eyemax Server under the Search tab, use the Save option instead of Backup and choose AVI as the file type to be saved. There are various software that can be used to edit AVI's.
  5. Copy Server.exe to the Startup folder in the programs menu. What in the Watchdog doesn't work?
  6. Does anyone now where I can purchase a Hikvision DS-4004MDI Matrix Decode Card or something similar to work with the DS-4016HCI?

  10. I'm pretty sure if you measure the height of the ceiling on the inside and the outside you can drill a hole diagonally from the sofit above the door or even on the front to the attic area that is accessible. I would definitely install the camera in the corner above the door.

Do u really want to put test card against AVtech DVR ? Sure every installer will love to be able to provide variances of there systems. What do you have in mind? I will love to see a test of AVtech against Kikvision.
  12. I'm not sure about the DS-4008HCI but, the DS-4016HCI is capable of recording 8 Channels up to 4Cif @ D1. http://www.hikvision.com/admin/Upload/Spec%20of%20DS-4008HCI-E.pdf
  13. I had this problem before, turned out to be an issue with the electrical ground. The environment was that of a warehouse, where the electrical to the pole was energized on a different phase to that of the Camera/DVR. I tried powering the camera locally but this cased another issue creating what is referred to as a ground loop, causing the picture to roll or jitter. I ended up strapping a double 1' piece of Trex (synthetic deck board) to the pole and then mount the camera on the Trex. Been working great since then (over 2 Yrs).

  19. I have been using the HikVision 4016 HCI card for a while now and I've been using WinAvi Video Converter no problem.
  20. No intent on hijacking thread. jameslou, I was just wondering if you can maybe give me some pointers. I've been looking for a better software than Unisight to use with HikVision cards and I saw your post along with others and decided to give it a try. I downloaded the software and codec's, got a 14 day demo registration, installed the software and was able to configure it whit not much difficulty. I've one problem know, I restarted the system and now I am unable to access the setting dialog, any ideas? P.S. I'm using an HikVision DS-4016HCI®

    Flickering Camera Images

I would say it's the PSU. If you can, try powering camera with a 7Ah battery and see what happens. Is it an IR Camera?
