I've got an avermedia card I've had for about six months. I dusted it off because I have a client that wants to use it. The only thing is I can't find the original disc with the serial number on it. I can download the software but dont have a serial number. Does anybody have one they can give me? Why the stupid serial number in the first place????

I used Rorys 'how to tweak an XP DVR" but now I need to have the internet explorer reactivated for another application i need to run on the machine. What do I services do I need to activate to get it back?

When you hit the "Monitor" button it shows the names of all the cameras and their status. I have some hidden cameras I would like to not show up on that list. Is there any way to do this?
-
I think, there is no way to hide monitor status. Whats the point in having a hidden camera when it's so easily seen? Total flaw if you ask me.

I have a Canon VC-C4 camera with RS232 inputs. What is involved in hooking up and controlling it with a Geovision system. I'll probably end up using the combo card. thanks!

I won't sell a client anything but a dedicated computer to act as a DVR. I try to set it up to work as efficiently as possible. Here are some of the things I do. Any other suggestions to make the DVR work better? - Remove all "demo" programs and all other programs that are not used to run or view the system. - Change XP properties to "highest performance". Basically gets rid of all the pretty GUI stuff. - Remove all windows components that aren't needed, "i.e. outlook express, messenger, MSN, etc.) - Turn off screen saver - Set computer to "always on". - Defrag hard drive if needed. I'm sure there's more but I wanted to see what else you all do to increase effectiveness and performance of the system. Thanks!

I am having problem with remote playback on a single computer. I can log in, and pull up the calendar of events but nothing happens when i click on an event to play it. this is only happening on a single computer. Any suggestions? Is there a way to clean out the components downloaded to that computer and let them reinstall or something? Thanks

yup, it's a connection over the internet. At the remote location I can connect properly with one computer and not another in the same room.

I'm sure I'm missing something stupid here. My internet provider blocks port 80 so I moved to port 81 for the webserver. When I do that and then enter the IP address with :81 port designation I get a "403 forbidden, access denied" error. what gives? I tried multiple ports with the same results. Any suggestions?

Hmmm...now it works! I still can't get images on my blackberry like I can with my other systems like this but I imagine that has something to do with the way it handles ports. Sal, let me know if you still want the IP. I can PM it to you. I sure got some great troubleshooting tips with this thread, thanks so much!

I tried it on a computer on the LAN using both LAN IP and WAN IP with no luck. Oops i didn't have webserver running. Able to get connected with LAN IP and WAN IP from a computer on the LAN

I've changed the port in the DVR software to 81 which shows open. I'll check DNS server info. I'll try that right now.
-
Yup. Traffic is definately heading to the correct machine. It seems as through there is a problem as soon as I change the default HTTP Port to anything besides the default 80. I'm stumped. The ipconfig on the DVR is as follows: IP: 192.168.1.101 (ports forwarded on router to this machine) Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0 Default Gateway: 192.168.1.1

OK, reset the router and was able to set forwarding to allow ports to be opened. Now when I try to access the dvr remotely (outside LAN) I'm getting a HTTP Error 403 Forbidden and Access Denied. Ug!!!!!!!!!!!!! Any suggestions? This is crazy. I've never had this trouble getting connected remotely.
-
That doesn't work!?! I can reach the DVR using the LAN IP address of another computer on the network. Any suggestions as to why my router isn't opening ports?
-
what in the world? I still get "stealth" on all the opened ports, even when forwarded. Its a linksys BEFW11S4. The regular software works fine. I can use it from computer to computer in my LAN. I can't figure out why the ports aren't showing open. I'm using the "Forwarding" section of the router.

It works fine over the LAN. Windows firewall off on all computers Active X enabled

You guys rock. Thanks for all the help. I'll try this stuff right now. Thanks for the tools rory. I ran it and I can't find ANY ports that show open even though I have them forwarded in the router. Any suggestions?

What do I need to do to view a Geovision system over a Blackberry 7100T (T-mobile)? Right now I get a blank screen when I log in to a camera. The only thing I can actually see if the "video lost" screen when a camera is down. Am I missing something. I'm in a gmrs area. thanks

I'm looking for a standalone DVR that good POS functions. It needs to have remote viewing as well. I want a price point DVR that I can make into a demo unit using a Pelican case and flat panel monitor. Any suggestions?

How would I go about making a scope camera for a rifle? Kind of like they do at live-shot?

I was talking about using "flooded" direct burial cable. I would use direct burial fiber. It has a thick outer casing with two fiberglass rods that run down the length of the cable. It is "flooded" with a gelatinous material. You shouldn't have any problem with the fiber in this application. You would have to break the fiberglass rods well before you would damage the fiber. Berk-tek has this type of cable.
