Hello. I would agree with your assumption. These days it would appear that most manufacturers seem to find it more cost effective to allow the consumer to do the QA for them.
-
Hello. Since you have had the DVR for a while, you might want to consider replacing the adapter that powers the cameras.

Hello. Sounds like the cameras are stuck in night vision mode. -

Hello. Are you using the IP address or the P2P code? -
Can't get ip cam to show up on nvr through router
GadgetAssistant replied to northsire's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Hello. The app on the phone or the software on the PC will not necessarily know that the NVR connection now has a fifth camera. Ideally, you can fix that by updating the app or software settings. -
hikvision dvr access with public ip
GadgetAssistant replied to dnmmalta's topic in Computers/Networking
Hello. When the Asus router was reset, it is possible that your public ip changed. www.portchecktool.com should show your current IP and you want to compare that to what is entered in on the software and phone app. They may look very similar or almost identical but the last octet almost certainly should be different. -
Hello. That probably has more to do with internet bandwidth than with the DVR itself. Each connection probably eats up about 5mbps of the upload speed. Most internet service providers will cap off your upload speed at about 10-15mbps, regardless of the download speed. I am assuming that you might have an HD DVR and basic business internet account.

Remote Access to DVR OSD (On Screen Display)
GadgetAssistant replied to Lord Farringdon's topic in General Digital Discussion
Hello. Your DVR kit may have included a CD with software for that express purpose. Also, most DVR's will host a web page for you to access remotely. In either case, you would need to know the DVR's LAN IP to access it locally or the DVR's WAN IP to access it remotely. If it is a DVR has a P2P ID, you might be able to use that on the PC software. For any of the aforementioned connections, you would also need to know what the proper port is. -
Camera System Scrambled Display
GadgetAssistant replied to lambo's topic in General Digital Discussion
I couldn't get my voltmeter/multimeter to work but I plugged one of the camera line's directly into my TV and the picture was perfect clear as day so the camera's themselves are not the problem but does that also mean that the power supply is NOT the problem? I am wondering if the DVR unit could be bad even though it is acting completely normal as far as being able to access all of the settings and what not Hi. It is starting to sound like it is a single point of failure with the DVR. But it is a good idea to rule out power as an issue completely. A failing power adapter might still have enough juice to power a single camera. In all your posts you mention only a single adapter. Most 8 camera DVR kits I have seen will include one adapter for the DVR another two adapters that will power a group of four cameras with a four way splitter. -

Hello. The cameras would usually have their own power adapter and that is probably what needs replacing. -
Hello. If you define a user MAC, then you will be limited to logging in remotely from that particular device belonging to the MAC. You may want to consider leaving the field blank, if you want the freedom to log on from various devices.

Night vision not working after lightning strikes pole
GadgetAssistant replied to bootsnmitts76's topic in Security Cameras
Hello. Sounds like it was the camera LED's that bore the brunt of the lightning strike damage. You have already invested in replacing the power supply to the camera; you might want to consider the extra step of providing an external LED light source for the cameras, since they seem to work during the day. -
Hello. Is the camera wifi only or is it also set up for ethernet cable?

You got me, too. You might want to to contact Samsung support. They should be able to remotely check it out for you. I found this info for them on the web: Product & Technical Support Phone : 1-844-WISENET (844-947-3638) Email : cs@samsungsv.com (7 days a week, 9:00 am – 9:00 pm EST) -
POe switcher for time changing cameras
GadgetAssistant replied to jordanthomson's topic in General Digital Discussion
Hello. I would check the CD that came with the system for the software that connects directly to the cameras to configure them. Most likely you need to adjust the time zone and maybe change the NTP server. -
Samsungsv wiseview mobile app iPhone
GadgetAssistant replied to Loc-Mode's topic in Computers/Networking
Make sure that your phone has internet access when you use the app. Whenever possible, connect the phone to a wifi before trying to view the cameras on the app. Lastly, perhaps someone on your behalf at the DVR location can check and make sure that the both the router and DVR are working properly. -

Hello. Are you using the P2P ID on the Wiseview app or the DVR router's IP address. -
Hello. Have you fully tested out the camera by moving it to a different port on the DVR and connecting it direct to the power adapter in order to rule out the DVR and power as possible issues?
-
Hello. It may be an opportunity to refurbish the DVR by replacing the hard drive. So long as the DVR is still working OK, of course. Did the engineer already try replacing the power adapter?

SMTP stoped working on one camerea only
GadgetAssistant replied to dmitrynt's topic in Security Cameras
Hello. It is always a good idea to check the ethernet cabling. Make sure that your email account does not have a limit on how many emails could be sent. Also, some services like gmail require less secure apps enabled to allow IOT devices to access their servers. If the failing camera has a different firmware, it may not have the correct SMTP protocol, so updating the firmware could resolve the issue. Beyond that, on the failing camera you might want to try an alternate SMTP server and/or port as advised by your email service. You may even try a different email service or account. -
Hello. Rural internet service can make it tough to maintain a remote connection to a DVR. The way that Hughesnet aggregates its users can make port forwarding very difficult, if at all possible. AT&T may be a better bet if they can provide you reliable minimum upload speed of 1 to 5mbps - depending on the number of cameras you want to watch at any one time.
-
Hello. Port forwarding can be an art as much as it is a science. Perhaps you might want to try the P2P option if that is available for your DVR. Alternately, tech support for either your DVR or your router may be willing to remote in on a computer and try to help.
-
Hello. In your case, with the info you have presented, I would try two separate port entries: Service Name Port Local IP Local Port DVRTCP 4520 192.168.1.122 4520 DVRweb 80 192.168.1.122 80
-
Hello. Consider the following internet resource in trying to resolve this issue: https://portforward.com/asus/ You should not need to create a separate entry for each protocol. Though you may want to to create an entry for each port on the single port page as opposed to the port range page you noted. Lastly, you may want to disable UPNP on the router or DVR or both, if you want to manually manage the port forwarding.
