Does anyone know how to change the image resolution on a BMP that you save from View Log? All my images are 320 x 240. I changed the video resolution to both 720 x 480 and 640 x 480 but my BMP images are still 320 x 240. I have a Geovision 650 and am running Multicam Surveillance System 8.3 on Windows XP.

I finally figured it out. You have to set it in different places: configure>A/V Setting/Video Source and click the drop down to select the resolution you want to record video at. then configure>General Settings>System Configure>Camera Record Setting (tab)>Recording Quality Click on green triangle to the right of Recording Quality and check what resolution you want to use. Hope someone finds this useful, it took me a while to get it.

I am looking for a camera to install in my garage so it will be generally low light conditions. The problem with my current camera is when I open the garage door on a sunny day the bright light washes out the image. I am looking for a 'reasonably' priced camera where this effect is minimized. Sounds like someone needs to write a geovision ip camera emulator with Geovision outputs on the front end and a generic camera connection on the other. Too bad its probably beyond my programming abilities.

I remember talking to someone (a dealer I believe) who told me that GEOVISION brand cameras are free but if you want to use another brand, you have to 'pay to play'. Is this still true? I am looking at adding a IP camera or 2 and don't really want to buy Geovision. Thanks for the help.

A couple of follow up questions: Why is there such a big price difference between this camera on a couple of sites? A company I've done business with before and been happy with (worldeyecam) has it at $201 but there are several sites that list it for $137 or $148. I need to get a video system to monitor a parking lot. It is approximately 1/2 acre in size and has no buildings on site. Ideally, it would be a network/ip system with open standards that could be interfaced with a future larger (but currently non-existent) system with 8 cameras and a motion sensor/notification system. Is there an "out of the box" solution that could be placed outside (probably mounted on a telephone pole)? Any suggestions or advice on what direction to go would be appreciated.

Do you notice and performance improvement with the 8.3 version? Bug fixes? I somewhat of the "if it 'ain't broke don't fix it" mentality and and contemplating the upgrade. Thanks, Kevin

I finally found where this option is changed. Click on the Tool icon, select General Settings>Camera/Audio Install>Camera/Audio Install>Startup>Default Screen Division Hope someone finds this useful.

Is there a way to change the default camera view? I am running Geovision Multicam Surveillance System version 8.2 When it starts up the default is the 8 camera view (1 big picture on top right and 7 small pictures along the right and bottom ) I would like it to be 4 equally sized pictures. I can change it to that view, but as soon as motion is detected, it switches to that camera, and then back to the default 8 camera view. Thanks!

I occasionally get a popup error message that says "A required resource was unavailable" after my Geovision Multicam (Version 8.2) has been running for a while. Anyone know what causes this or what I can do to fix it? Thanks, Kevin

So how would I install an AXIS brand IP camera?

Why do you have an additional cost for a camera that is not Geovision? Isn't it as simple as entering the IP for the network camera? Does Geovision use some proprietary system? I'm very interested in installing an IP camera on my Geovision system but am having some difficulty finding documentation.

I've been wondering about providing power to my 12v cameras and some alternative approaches. Since my system is a DVR card in a computer, and my computer has a 500W power supply, would it be feasible to power the cameras from the power supply in the computer? Has anyone ever tried this? I had also considered using an extra computer power supply unit to power the cameras. I have several of those laying around

sharp ccd? I'm guessing that is a bad thing?

I'm new to the CCTV scene so please bare with me. I'd like to get a 12v power supply that can power several cameras (3 to 6). I've only seen the ones that power a single camera. Is there a multiple camera power supply produced? If so where can I pick one up? Thanks.

Thanks for the information. My system is a small home system. I will never have more than 8 (analog) cameras. I currently have 4, 2 are 100mA and two are 350mA. I am considering a one larger IR camera. With the DC-9 (1 amp) system couldn't I connect the camera to 2 outputs and get 2 amps if needed?

Here are the settings for Comcast: the server is smtp. comcast. net The port is 587 The email from needs to be our full email address check the box for SMTP server requires authentications. For the account, use the part of your email address before "at comcat dot net" and put in the password. Hope thisa helps.

I finally got my Geovision card after lurking here for a while and got it up and running. I'm having problem setting up my email notification. For some reason I can't get the SMTP to work on Gmail or with my ISP (Comcast). If someone has either of these 2 mail servers working could you please post the server address and port info please? I figured it out. I'll post the solution in the next reply as that will be my 5th and I should be able post the complete information.

In my original post I tried to include the server and port information but this server won't let me post addresses so I'll see if I can include them here. I used the same Comcast server that was listed in your first link smtp,comcast,net on port 110 but it doesn't work. Interestingly I cant ping that server. I get a request timed out every time. On the Gmail server (same as the one in your second link), I can ping it, but I can't seem to connect via Geovision (ver 8.2) using both port 465 or 587. I have disabled my firewall(Comodo) and antivirus (AVG) when trying to connect to these servers. Any ideas? Thanks for the help.
