    Thanks for info. How about lightning protection? I want to run cable in a conduit underground to a boat house. Any special protection to keep lightning from coming back into the NVR? And is cat5/cat6 the best cable for this application??

    I would like to put an IP camera on a covered boat dock. What is the max distance can the wire travel? What type wire (cat 5 cat 6)? Fiber optic? Should it be run in conduit underground? Lightning protection? Any help appreciated.
