    Network video matrix?

Howdy, New guy here; I have posted an introduction that may give some context to my question. We are figuring out a conversion of our current analog system to IP. Right now I can pull up and drive the camera I want on the monitor wall by just selecting the monitor and punching in the camera number on a BOSCH Intuikey keyad/joystick, so we use the Allegiant video matrix. When we convert, I want my dispatchers to be able to use their cameras the same way. I see the benefits of the mainstream VMSs but since my guys know their camera numbers, they can get the camera they want very quickly. Does anybody know of a product that could work like that? I imagine something with a simple program where you build a camera table with the names and IP addresses, then when you punch in the number on the keypad it finds the address and brings it up. Thanks for reading.

    Network video matrix?

Thanks for the reply! That's one of the best options I have seen. I think we might just be too picky. We would still be losing flexibility on the monitor wall from what I understand reading the specs. I have a proposal to spend this money on some analog thermal now.....yeaaaaah

    Recommendation for Daycare System

We are fans of Axis and BOSCH in my neck of the woods. Axis has a product selector on their website that will spit out cameras that meet your requirements. I also hear a lot of good things about Hikvision. What's your budget look like?
  5. I would check the simple stuff first. Are these cameras POE? When you say failing, do you mean you can't view it remotely or it loses power? If it's POE and the camera loses power when plugging in the second, you may have exceeded the power budget of the switch. If you are just losing remote viewing, maybe an IP address conflict? See if the new camera's default IP is the same as the first. Just checking the basics. Probably the port forwarding though.

    Howdy

Howdy, This forum has been a great resource for me over the last year. I am finally joining so I can get the full benefit this community offers and to hopefully give back if I can. I have been in the private security industry for about 4.5 years and have been really involved on the technical side for a little over a year now. I also do emergency medical, executive protection, and weapons maintenance. Right now we have just under 300 cameras, everything is BOSCH analog, managed in a control center with a switcher. We also use Hirsch (now Identiv) for all our access control. Fiber networks connect everything. I got Axis certified recently and am learning a lot about the IP game. I have lots of questions and hopefully some answers for somebody. Thanks for being here everybody!
