Hi all,
I'm somewhat new to the CCTV/IP camera world and could use some help sourcing a product for an atypical application. I'm working on a robotic package storage and delivery system, about the size of a walk-in closet, and we need to capture images of packages at various locations within the machine. The size of the machine rules out USB cameras (cable length), so I'm looking at network cameras to see if there's an acceptable substitute.
I'm looking for a camera that gets as close as possible to the following criteria:
[*] Smallest size possible (around ~50x50x20mm would be ideal)
[*] Can upload an image to an FTP server upon an external input signal (I believe these are usually called 'alarms' in the industry?)
[*] 720p resolution minimum
[*] Works at relatively short distances - the package would typically be 5-25 cm away from the camera lens
[*] Built-in lighting is not required - the scene would be externally lit.
[*] An external housing is not required - a bare circuit board + lens would actually be ideal
It seems that most cameras are dedicated to surveilling at the length scale of people and rooms. Is there anything on the market for monitoring at the smaller scale?
Thanks very much for your help - this forum has already been great for getting me familiarized with the CCTV world.
