hi all i have been playing around with the face detection tool in the geovision software, its really good it pops up and saves a thumbnail of any faces detected in the camera view, saves to a specific file location. this is great but i wanted to take it further and use it to recognise a face, now the software only saves a image of face with time and date but thats it, i was told if i use a 3rd party software to do all the hard work and just ask it to reteive from thet location that worul be great but as of yet cant fine a cheap software that would do it, dont mind paying but £300 is a bit steap ($300) all i seem to find is free desktop locks. just wondering if anyone had wanted to do this also or if anyone have some advise? many thanks ron

Use conduit for wiring or go through wall
ronbo replied to camera8820's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
if you are able to get baluns cheap and cat5 cheap i would just run cat 5 as you could easy add another camera or 3 by using just two cores for power, as you are using juction boxs you should have the space to fit baluns. altho i have ran a 20 metre of cat 5 side by side with and with out baluns and checked the quality of image and..... no differance in picture. -
hi its prob all forgoten now but since no one replyed, looking between £1150 and 1400 we got ours for 1150 plus vat could jet cheaper with an account .they are so over priced for what they are. they are good but sure there are much better out there. i dont think the night vision is very good and there are better res cameras out there, think is if you want to use all the PTZ extra functions like alrms, outputs etc you need more of pelcos eqipment , just brought a 350 quid keyboard, altho looks like a 1980s computer joystick its is very good but still cant use all the functions with out buying the 3500 pound matrix !!!!

pelco keyboard & software telementry
ronbo replied to ronbo's topic in Video Transmission/Control Devices
i can never understand why matrx are so expensive, i suppose appart from the diode method a double poll switch for the operator to press would alow him to switch between the two if one failed. come to think of it i cant understand why pelco is so expensive, i mean 350 quid for a keyboard which looks like it came with an Atari or Commador 64? -
this may also be moved into geovision forum but lets start hear first, we will be getting the Geovision 1240 card with the nessissary PTZ card we have a pelco 300A keyboard which i will be connecting in direct mode now will be controling 3 pelco domes in total. my question is, will using both the pelco keyboard and the 8.3 geovision software to control the domes cause any kind of problem? any thoughts welco

ronbo replied to ronbo's topic in Video Transmission/Control Devices
ya they are very expensive for what they are, would it be fine if i just use one or the other i imagen it is as there is no data flowing from different transtitters? -
so on looking at some of your links and what you have said i couldnt use just the normal vidio signal it would have to be digitalised like ip? we looking to use an existing mains feed at 5 fifferant locations all using the same phase and distances of 900 metres is there something just for cctv do you think?
-
could also try focusing camera at night

Hi all ive looked through some other threads and im now more wiser about using Active Baluns rather then passive one. im questions are if were are going to used CAT5 over very long distances that would require active baluns for video.....What happens with the PTZ control? can i use some of cat5 cores for the ptz control of would i need to boots this signal too? and would there be any problems with those two in one cat5 especialy if i wanted to have 24v ac running through just incase local power to the cameras went down any thoughs welcome thanks
-
hope is is an ok place to thread this? is there any think you need to do ie register, to install cctv in the uk, ive read and understand the cctv codes of pratice but is that all i need ? any help would be great ron

ok now i know my limits with cable. have any of you used microwave systems? i know you can get 1.5km direct line of sight but can you have 2 ch or 4 ch or is it 1 dish per camera and one per reciever? and can you still control PTZ or does it get a bit delayed? -

hi all Im looking to use a PTZ camera, just the camera not the whole case and put it into a much smaller waterproof box and construct a window for the lens to see out of. but im worryed that being out side i will get all kind of condensating problems so im thinking to put a heater inside, a little like the regular external housings which have a box camera in them. so the heater will only come on when it cold enough. I rather not use a heater if i can get away with it, im thinking if the unit is properly sealed then the heat generated from the camera through normal useage should be enough to ward off any condensation. as the little domes you can get has no heater and there for external use while writing this im now realising that the heater regulates the temprature just right depending on out side temps. So since i seen to of answered my own question, Any one out there ever made there own external housings?? any comments welcome cheers ron
