Milestone vs ExacqVision
thewireguys replied to nyckylim's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
It's possible mine may have reconnected in 5 minutes. I didn't wait that long. I unchecked and rechecked each camera and they reconnected instantly. On the first reboot, they all reconnected instantly. On the next two reboots, they did not. Only tested it three times. Best, Christopher Yup this exactly what I am talking about and it is a BIG problem. I had one job where the only way I could get the cameras to reconnect was to completely remove the cameras from the server and then reset them up. Which when you do this you loss ALL video. -

Mine all reconnect, but I only have a couple of manufacturers (Axis cameras, Axis video encoders, and Panasonic camera). Best, Christopher How long did it take to auto reconnect? -

Aviglon's Ipad/Iphone support will be in the new build which will be released next month. Since both of you use Exacq do me a favor and pull power on your NVRs and plug them back in. Report back how long it takes for Exacq to autoreconnect to your cameras. -

You can control the zoom and autofocus with Exacq. It uses the PTZ controls in Exacq. -

VMS viewing station CPU usage
thewireguys replied to RedSq's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I have heard from multiple people that Milestone has issues with H.264 cameras over 2MP. I would love to hear what Milestone has to say about this. Please tell us what they say. -
IP megapix solution for Bar/restaurant low light?
thewireguys replied to destro_23's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Find a distributor or online retailer with a reasonable restock fee, buy the cams you want to test, return the ones that don't meet your requirements and pay the restock. +1. +1000 -
IP megapix solution for Bar/restaurant low light?
thewireguys replied to destro_23's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
The OP is asking about MP cameras for Bars. Soundy said "The day/night Areconts don't switch out of B&W in most cases" You said "Really? Is this true of the 10Mp D/N? I'm finding the HIK 5Mp about the same price as the Arecont 10Mp." You said " Has anyone tried the Arecont 10Mp for switch between night /day? I'd hate to go down another blind alley like the Mobotix M12. Very disappointed in them. That disaster cost me several hundred dollars by the time I sold the camera, despite the extensive research I'd done." I answered "What do you want to know? It's a good camera when used in the right situation. I think you where the one trying to get Mobotix to work on Linux. I am a little hesitant to recommend something because of your previous posts in another thread. Arecont like Mobotix is not a plug in and go camera. They need to be setup properly to get the best image out of them. The first thing you need to do is decide on VMS because the 10MP has limited VMS support. What are you trying to do with the camera?" You said "Has anyone tried the Arecont 10Mp for switch between night /day?" Again I said " I think you need to be more specific. Yes I have installed 10MP Day/Night Arecont camera. Yes you can adjust the switch from day/night. But you need to use this camera in the correct situation to get good results. Without knowing what you what to use the camera for I can't recommend it or any camera at this point." You say "I give up. Apparently wireguys has forgotten what is in the first page of this thread." Well I am lost. I tried to help but you don't answer my questions. Last time I am gonna try and help you. Are you trying to use this in a bar? If the answer is yes then I would NOT recommend the 10MP. -

I have heard that Milestone has issues with cameras over 2MP and H.246. Switch the cameras to MJPEG and see what happens. -
IP megapix solution for Bar/restaurant low light?
thewireguys replied to destro_23's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
... and I lose another couple hundred dollars if it doesn't do what the specs say. (as was the case with Mobotix) Looks like no one knows about the night/day switch with the Arecont 10. What do you want to know? It's a good camera when used in the right situation. I think you where the one trying to get Mobotix to work on Linux. No Exacq can not email images or video. You can email a link to the web client and see live and recorded video that way. -
Video IQ cameras
thewireguys replied to thewireguys's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
No. VideoIQ different the traditional NVR software because they do not run a central server. The video analytics work very well and it is a great solution for securing large outdoor areas. You can record video 24/7 and/or based on rules triggered from the analytics. They have a very powerful unique solution. -
Any one using them? I would like to hear the good, bad, and ugly. thanks
