Front Door Camera - ACTi or Arecont
thewireguys replied to Anthony A.'s topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Do you have a PC on the net? Run the Exacq server with a single camera license. Best, Christopher Why? The Arecont still has its own inbuilt webpage which you can view which is all he is trying to do. You can still view the Arecont stream through a webpage. Irrespective of whether its designed for it or not, you can still do it. I didn't say it wouldn't work You only get limited frame rates with Arecont using the web interface they're designed to be used with VMS software. If you have a computer running 24/7 why not record it? Exacq has single channel free vms software. -

Milestone vs ExacqVision
thewireguys replied to nyckylim's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Between the two I would go with Exacq. I find Milestone to be very complicated and not user friendly plus with Milestone you will need 4 licenses and Exacq you will only need one. Also Milestone licenses to the MAC address of the camera which can be a big PTA when you want to which devices or replace them. Also the Acti encoder your looking at only does 7 FPS on all channels compared to the AXIS which can do 30 FPS at full D1 on all channels FYI. (edit the axis q7404 can) Milestone go limits you to 5 days of storage BTW -

Axis Q7404 is $1099 the Axis 241Q is $799 new. I have a 241Q that has less then one hour on it that I will let go for $500 if your interested. -

You need to ask yourself. Do you want cheap or something what will work and do what you need. Your computer specs are fine and I second the Axis encoder they work very well with Exacq. -

How many IP licenses are required for Axis 241Q?

One Exacq license -
I have a pair if the Fluidmesh 1100 MITO links coming to test. I also have a pair of Mikrotik SXT PTP links that I have been testing. So far I have a 100Mbps PTP link working in my office. Very impressive! Can't wait to see how the Fluidmesh links compare.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rGPay-u9ZPo&feature=related Camera on the left has built-in IR camera on the right has built-in smart IR. Camera on the left is useless with objects that are close to the camera and the IR is on. -

DVR Recommendation
thewireguys replied to mobiledynamics's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
You would use a NVR not a DVR with IP cameras. I would not recommend streaming 24/7 over the web it's better to have local storage or cameras with built in storage like Mobotix. http://www.mobotix.com/eng_US/ -

Shutters and smokecloak would be my first suggestion. Ilkie Smokecloak looks interesting have you installed them before? Is it legal in the US? I could see the perp tripping and breaking a leg then suing the owner and installer.... which BTW it think is fucking ridiculous -

pupdogg.... please state more information about your company and what you do. This could be a good opportunity for someone. Do you need someone to design the system or did you sell it already? What business are you in? Campbell.... he said nothing about camera counts. -
