So can you tell me more about VideoIQ. I looked at their website enough to be curious. It appears that they make cameras with built in analytic engines, thus not needing VMS to do the processing. Do they also have local storage on the camera, via a SD? "Our cameras incorporate storage (up to 500GB) in the camera, along with self-calibrating video analytics adapted to detecting people and vehicles (and ignoring pretty much all other motion). For your scenario, you can mount one of our 1080p HD cameras, get continuous recording at 1080p 24/7 if you like, and get real-time notifications of certain activities (like a person coming into a specific area of your property at night). All of this is managed within the camera itself, so there is no requirement to have a back-end PC running any software to make it all work. An example of a camera mounted on my house, tracks me, ignores the dog: " Here are more videos http://www.youtube.com/user/VideoIQ#p/u/3/ocThjgHXTyo PM if you need pricing.

How to bid a system like this

Looking for a list of analog and megapixel cameras that work with 940nm IR.
-
That's actually good. There are a ton of analog cameras out there that are IR sensitive up to around 1000nm. Most of the analog cameras based on the latest Pixim chips should give you good low light, good dynamic range, and IR sensitivity. I'm not sure you *really* want to do 940nm though. It takes a LOT of 940nm light to give good, even scene illumination. I'd say roughy you'll spend 1.5-2x more on 940nm over 850nm IR all things considered. Yes we want 940nm..... this is for covert law enforcement setups

Good Outdoor Day/Night Camera?
thewireguys replied to VirtualPanther's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
From your list of requirements you have 2 options Mobotix and VideoIQ.... Both will do what you want but you said you don't want to pay that much. I would adjust your budget or your requirements to get what you want. -
VideoIQ would be the perfect solution with 3g/4g and solar or wind power.

Just ordered your encoder

Arecont AV8365 and AV8185
thewireguys replied to andy74's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
So you sold some of these and you have never used one before? Could have been an order of... I would like x amount of camera y. No need to sell someone on something else if they're already set on what theyre buying. Meaning you don't now how they will work if you have never used one. Could be a big mistake if you don't know how many license you need for your VMS. -

I would have to see it to believe it.

This system does not exist yet

What Analytics are you looking at? Make sure you test them before you buy. I would pick Avigilon over all three of your chooses.
-
It's to funny every wireless company that I have talked to says the other companies suck and we are better.
-
I strongly recommend you contact a local professional to design and install a system for you.
-
If your are using a NVR you would need a IP encoder. If your using a Hybrid machine it would connect to one of the analog inputs.

Future of IP Security Camera market
thewireguys replied to Voipmodo's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I have to agree with this. Personally I think there will be a needed learning curve in the industry and the dinosaurs that don't want to learn to adapt will go extinct. The issue here is the installer is going to have to work with the customer's IT department since most of the time the newly installed system will have to be integrated into theirs. If you are willing to learn and make the effort to adapt this is a real non-issue. Of course, there will always be an IT department that think they have the smarts to sub out all the pulling and installing. Sometimes they get lucky... I just got back from ISC and after taking to my manufacture partners and listening to the questions people where asking 90% of the people in this business or trying to get in this business have NO CLUE what they are doing with IP. I find that most IT departments at first want there hands in this but then once I explain what is involved they want nothing to do with it. They already have 100+ devices on the network and only so much time and now I am talking about adding 100+ more devices. They see the light and don't want anything to do with it. -
Future of IP Security Camera market
thewireguys replied to Voipmodo's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
It will never happen as there are too many manufacturers that don't have the intestinal fortitude to stop their distributors from drop-shipping. I guess you really can't expect them to as it is all about the dollar at the end of the day. I tried to have this conversation previously with another member and it was like talking to a cinderblock. But the manufactures win because they are selling the product to the online store. It is separate the men from the boys if they put their foot down. -

I think one way to slow this down would be to have online retailers stock all products from the manufacture. I would like to see you have to stock some of the 20,000$ DVRs and see how long you would carry that product. I am different from the rest I put quality of work and product before making money at all cost. -

LOL that camera doesn't exist anymore from Avigilon!! That company is over seas and Aviglon knows all about it. Show me any other sites that have their prices posted. I spoke with Avigilon at ISC and they have no plans to go with distribution or online sales. All sales are linked to dealers so they know where every piece of equipment came from. Avigilon understands the value of integrators that know what they are doing. The Walmart way is killing this country and industry. I don't understand how guys like yourself are happy making 5% on product and giving away free help If everyone would stand up for themselves instead of folding like a deck cards we would all be in a better place in this country. BTW do you stock everything on your site or do you just drop ship everything?
