Question about Milestone XProtect's post-record feature
thewireguys replied to JBlitzen's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
You record all the time. Then you search for the time say yesterday between 9 -930 am. Then you export the file for your long term storage in a nice neat file. -
Question about Milestone XProtect's post-record feature
thewireguys replied to JBlitzen's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Why not just record continuous and then export the video from the VMS? You could also setup a trigger input to start and stop the recording. -

Yea I would just let it record then export the video that you want. -
Future of IP Security Camera market
thewireguys replied to Voipmodo's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I don't know any Electricians that know anything about IP or camera placement. I know a lot of people who think they know what they are doing but have no clue. I agree things are going IT but again I know some very smart IT guys and they don't know anything about cameras. No one wins with this model but the manufactures and we (including you) let them continue to do this. Online sales kill everything. People buy cameras from companies that don't know anything about cameras then come on this forum to A) get free help B) *** that the products suck because that don't know what they are doing. This gives everyone a black eye. I am so happy that Avigilon hasn't let us hang out to dry and put a great product only in the hands of people that know how to design and install top of the line systems. In the long run who wins when we are all out of a job because we can't make any money And I will continue to make noise with manufactures so they put the product in peoples hands that know what they are doing with their products. -
I have installed them. Image quality is good but it is analog and you need to keep your FOV small of you want detail. Install can be a PITA.

Powering Cameras Over Cat 6 Cable
thewireguys replied to larrymilla's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Yea I would not pull pairs from the Cat6 unless you absolutely have to. You just looking for trouble down the road. Can you pull a second Cat6 to each camera and use it for power? -

14 Outdoor PTZ Wifi Cams - site:500m x 300m
thewireguys replied to snowweb's topic in Video Transmission/Control Devices
yea it is very easy to host a image and share it on the forum. What cameras are you planing on using? What wireless system are you looking at? -
I could be getting confused with another system but I'm pretty sure I configured an audio alarm on motion detection in Exacq pretty recently. Under event actions? Perhaps that was the Bosch DVR, I work on so many. I'm positive the camera did flash red on the map on motion detection. If you have the standard vivotek day cameras there is no night mode. Just a brightness setting. If they are day/night you might need to log into the actual camera webserver to set the threshold probably. No audio Alarms Cameras flash blue for motion and red for alarm by default on the map.

Audio & IP Cameras
thewireguys replied to mlohman's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I have done audio with Acti and Exacq for police departments. Works with the built in mics but I would try it before you sell it to your customer. -

4-8 camera systems low FPS not that big of deal. When you start getting to 15+ Megapixel with high FPS and low compression not as easy as Soundy (free tech support) makes it out to be. -
Can Axis 214 ptz and 215 ptz be powered by injector/splitter
thewireguys replied to jisun126's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Well you would have to use it with POE+ injector POE+ splitter Output power: - 5, 7.5, 9 or 12 V DC, selectable via switch - Maximum output: 5 V - 4 A, 7.5 V - 2.7 A, 9 V - 2.3 A, 12 V - 1.7 A FYI Axis has all the parts on there site for POE+ and powering both the 214 and 215 -
Sure makes sense, is there not an audible method or is making the camera with motion appearing in one of the boxes the best way to do this? Ok no problem, do cameras normally have the ability to adjust that sensitivity? As far as I know Exacq does not have a audio alarm "action type" in the client software. You could use a trigger out put on a camera to a bell or siren driver. It all depends on the camera manufacture. Some have the day/night threshold adjustment some do not. Some have it and it doesn't work

Mobotix: Slow Framerate, Disappointing Quality
thewireguys replied to Quantum's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
What is your problem? At what point was I not trying to help you? In fact your are the one that is attacking myself and others. Pointing out that you are using a used Mobotix camera is not an attack it is a normal tech question so we can help. Stop being an asshole we don't need anymore in the world. FYI to your comment above. I am not the one asking how to get full frame rates on the camera if you want I will let you log into our demo cameras and show you that I have them setup correctly and I get full frame rates. Also you where the one that was gonna order Exacq for the Mobotix camera. Stop attacking people that are trying to help you. At some point you will get no more free help. -

thewireguys replied to neon5's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
It all depends on your needs wants and goals. There are hundreds of VMS providers on the market but you need to pick you cameras first before you pick VMS and don't order your server till you decide on your VMS. How many cameras? Are you using megapixel cameras? (if not you should be) IP cameras are not just plug in and go. If you have no networking experience I strongly recommended you don't do this. You think you will be saving money but in the long run you will be wasting alot of time and money. All of the products listed below have there advantages and disadvantaged. Personally I think Milestone is not very user friendly and there are expensive yearly software fees If it was my job to bid I would use Avigilon. Easy to use, better integration with cameras and no recurring fees. Milestone Exacq Avigilon ONSSI Genetec 3xLogic Aimetis DVTel Geovision ipConfigure JDS LuxRiot Nuuo Qnap Video Insight -
Mobotix: Slow Framerate, Disappointing Quality
thewireguys replied to Quantum's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Biting my tongue No, go ahead and say it. I'd like to hear how this is defensible, rather than just petulance. I have now thrown away a great deal of my valuable time on something that is supposed to work out of the box. How am I not to be indignant? 1) Camera is used (ebay)!!! so no one knows if it is working properly. 2) Mobotix cameras are very powerful and are not designed for the end user to configure. Not saying it can't be done but this is your first Mobotix camera and you have never attended a training course. Your trying to reinvent the wheel. We (the professionals on this forum) have decades of experience with CCTV we try to help you and tell you what will work but you deiced to do it your own way. Then you want to complain that a good product doesn't work without any formal training. Sorry you have wasted time on this but that is what happens the first time you use a product like this. I can't tell you how much time I have spend testing manufactures products before I got them working correctly. -
Use the Event monitoring for setting up motion pop up windows. Exacq does not control day/night settings.
