Installation monitor for ip cameras?
thewireguys replied to andy74's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
except when the clients change their mind on what they want to see when you go install the cameras I just set them all to wide then if they need to be zoomed in thats an easy focus anyway. Remote zoom and focus is your friend -

Not a problem if you setup your FOV when you design the system. -

IP Camera with Joystick
thewireguys replied to surveillance22's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
A USB joystick like the one I posted above might control the camera when you use the web interface. (I have done this with Axis PTZ cameras but they have a Active X control that supports this). The USB joystick will work with VMS software like Exacq and Avigilon. I am assuming you are recording video with this camera what are you using? -
help with 50 camera setup?
thewireguys replied to sedo_sedo's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Keep in mind to do it right you will want to have a NVR located at each site for local recording. Streaming 24/7 over the network is not a good idea. -
IP Camera with Joystick

The problems with camera control have more to do with your internet connection. When using public networks you need to balance the bandwidth for the best performance. http://www.chproducts.com/oem/finger_ip_desktop.html -

Installation monitor for ip cameras?
thewireguys replied to andy74's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Focus the camera before you install it. Don't use a laptop or netbook on a ladder. Use a GOOD monitor or the monitor the customer will be viewing the cameras from. I find 2 people with 2 way radios to be the best solution or use cameras with remote focus -
Arecont Vision cameras - is it possible at all ?
thewireguys replied to Maniek's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Tom I think you are referring to CMOS vs CCD sensors not lenses. I was talking about the sensor in the camera not being aligned properly. CMOS vs CCD has nothing to so with image focus. Take a look at Avigilon CMOS cameras they focus perfectly. I have a job with 26 Arecont 5MP Box cameras all with the same fixed 4mm 2/3 lens and some can be fully focused and some can not. -
Arecont Vision cameras - is it possible at all ?
thewireguys replied to Maniek's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I have installed many Areconts and I have had the same issues. Some cameras I can get fully focused and some I can't. I think it has something to do with the imager not being aliened properly. I have had the best results with the new 10MP box camera. -

Not only that but what happens when you want to add a 5th camera? Also looks like that unit is limited to VGA resolution. -

Recommendations for residential IP camera setup

Can't speak to other NVR remote solutions, but Exacq Vision supports both regular browsers (no ActiveX required) and the Exacq Mobile iPhone application (soon to be ported to other platforms), and there is no comparison between using a browser and application. Some have complained on iTunes about the $49 cost for Exacq Mobile and said they would continue to use the Safari browser, but for me, the speed, utility, and ease of use justify the cost. Exacq is aware they need to improve event searches, and once that is developed and released, this app with rock. So, while it's certainly nice to be able to walk into any hotel lobby or internet cafe and use a vanilla browser without any ActiveX, etc, there are also advantages to a well-designed mobile app that is specifically designed for a task. IMO, a quality NVR should have both. Best, Christopher This sounds like a great solution. I'll definitely check out this Exacq iphone app. I think being able to access images from home security systems like http://www.alarm.com/ is the way to go. Is this going to work as an Android app soon as well? That would be great. Exacq has a Andriod app -

I haven't installed it anywhere yet only temp setups for demos. I have two customers that are very interested in the unit and I will be installing at one of their locations to give it a full real world test hopefully next week. -
Exacqvision throttling
thewireguys replied to jonshiel's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
22609 is the client software 80 is the web client. Why not just limit the client bandwidth in Exacq software?
