    Lens choices

Could also be the sensor is not aligned correctly. Have a job right now with 26 5MP and 10 10MP Arecont box cameras. 22 4MM 2/3 lenses, 4 Theia 183 lens, 1 Theis 9-40mm and 9 4.5-10MM lenses. Some cameras we can get fully focused and some we can't not matter how much time we spend.
  2. The Axis 215PTZ is not a POE camera so it will not power up if plugged into a POE switch. Hook up 12V power adapter that came with the camera. Plug it into you network then use AXIS Camera Management to find the camera on the network.

    VOIP

But don't you still need a VOIP provider?
  4. Or you need to catch them in the act.
  5. Look at this thread for images from Megapixel cameras. viewtopic.php?f=19&t=11322
  6. Yo uare right about the PoE switch, it communicates with device, but some PoE injectors are passive and, they just inject power to the cable so it is possible to fry camera. I am gonna have to disagree with you here.. I have used many POE switches and injectors and I have never fried ANY network device with them. I have even accidently used Non-standard devices with POE devices and never fried anything. This includes POE+ injectors and network devices. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Power_over_Ethernet
  7. Thanks Korgoth Of Barbaria...... Still not impressed with IQI
  8. BK thanks for the info..... So far with my tests with the 1080P VideoIQ cameras I am very impressed. Keep in mind this is designed to detect and alert using rules based on people cars and boats. If you are looking to read plates and identify peoples faces I would use this as a part of a total solution. aKelly...... check the exposure settings in your Mobotix camera it will limit the FPS.

What are the best performing low light cameras?

This sounds like a plan, I'm game. I'm more interested in dynamic range, noise, contrast, and how well the camera deals with miserable back-lighting and other crappy lighting. Also, how well the cam handles ambient temperature. I know noise can increase as the sensor heats up. Just a thought. I think we need to keep this as simple as possible to start.

What are the best performing low light cameras?

Analog is a tool just like Megapixel and IP there will always be a use for it. I think with a very simple standard that we could all use on this forum with little cost involved could be very useful. For box cameras we would need to use the same lens. We all would need the same Lux meter (which is a good tool to have). Tripod

What are the best performing low light cameras?

Ak I think this is a great idea and would be very helpful to everyone. I have many cameras I can test.

    Why is that funny?

What are the best performing low light cameras?

Thats a great start Though Im surprised there arent people asking for their original sizes Yes you should post these in full res for a true comparison. BUT I don't really care about analog anymore. I don't have customers calling and asking for analog images. I just did a demo for a customer (government) that was lied to by the installer. I did a web demo for VideoIQ and Avigilon. After the demo the customer said wow I have never seen anything like that it is very impressive. He said they just had a analog system installed and the company total them this is the best image quality your gonna get. Well guess what, the customer now knows they where miss informed and lost total respect for the install company. I think if we are going to compare low light cameras we "need" to have a standard test that we use for every camera. I would be very helpful if we could make this test very easy to do so we all can do the test and post the images using the same standard. We would all need the same LUX meter, lens and scene to compare. All images would be exported and posted in FULL res. Please everyone post your ideas I think this would be very helpful to all.
  14. I have been using Makita 18v tools and have been very happy.

    Remote recording from multiple sites

Agreed I think the only real solution that still will not be cheap but would work is a hosted solution. You would still need the upload at each site but you would not need the big fat pipe had the head end. Also I would look at your ISP and see if they will let you stream 24/7 and do they have any bandwidth caps. We did a hosted solution trial 2 years ago and each customer received a letter from there ISPs stating they went over there limit and would be shut off if it continued. BTW the Avigilon system would record locally and off load the video at a per-determined time. This way you could stagger your backups and save bandwidth.

You can use multiple VideoIQ cameras with one aircard. But it all depends what the customer wants. Do you want to just record video and then spend hours looking for something or be proactive and try to prevent it before it happens. Good luck let me know if you have any other questions.

    Remote recording from multiple sites

I understand.... but it is not this easy my friend. Even if you get lucky enough to find CMS software that will record all of your DVRs you still have a MAJOR bandwidth issue to over come.

    Isolated construction site monitoring

I guess I was looking at this a little different. Why not protect the stuff people are going to steal instead of trying to read plates and see NOTHING of what they where doing. I think in addition to the LP camera you need to cover what you are trying to protect. If something does happen how are you gonna prove that LP was from someone who stole something maybe they just took a wrong turn and needed to turn around.

    Remote recording from multiple sites

You will need to upgrade/replace all of your DVRs to a system that can do this.

    Remote recording from multiple sites

Avigilon can do this with computer located at each site for local recording and one or two analog encoders depending on 4/8 cameras. This would do everything you want plus have the ability to at megapixel cameras in the future but this still doesn't over come the bandwidth issue. You could also look at hosted solution but you will need to play monthly fees per camera. Something like this: http://www.mycamserver.com/ip-camera-hosting I don't know the cost of that hosted solution but you will be looking at a say $15 per camera per month.

    KVM Suggestion

What DVR are you using? Depending on the price of the KVM setup why not invest into a new recording device that has remote client software with full control?

    Isolated construction site monitoring

Soundy Some one walks on the property and a alert is sent to the monitoring station. Monitoring station uses 2-way audio to say " hey you!! your trespassing the police are on there way. Everything you do is on video leave immediately" Person looks at speaker and then runs away with no damage done or property stolen. If the person stays the police are dispatched with the whole thing recorded. Here is a demo clip without using 2-way audio. http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=VideoIQ#p/u/33/iO_znZ2dikY

    Remote recording from multiple sites

Well I need to know the model number from the DVR to see if you can use it or if you will need to replace all of your DVRs with a unit that can support dual recording or remote backup.
