  4. That is what makes Avigilon so special. The VMS software was designed for MP cameras where everyone else designed the software for analog cameras and are now adapting to MP. FYI I just got there encoder and I have never seen a analog camera look this good.
  5. And there software is so complicated to use they have to give it away and people still don't use it
  6. Well said that man ! Sadly the size of the files is the issue with JPEG2000 but for me it wins hands down Still waiting for a H264 DVR that stands up the same The only downfall to larger file size for me has been better image quality.
  7. Also keep in mind usability of the VMS software. How long will it take you to install and configure the software with the cameras? How long will it take you to search video when a incident happens? Very import to consider when your using MP cameras. Vivotek cameras a looking very nice for the price these days.

    Adding a 2nd remote NVR...

As far as I know Axis doesn't support fail-over or redundant recording.
  9. $1,090.00 MSRP for the AV5110DN. There are better options for that kinda money.
  10. Jpeg2000 has so much more detail then H.264. Plus every frame is a full image. If you want small files use H.264, if you want detailed images use JPEG2000 or MxPEG.

    Adding a 2nd remote NVR...

    So you using AXIS VMS?
  12. Arecont H.264 uses less CPU then the JPEG versions. Why pay for a JPEG only camera these days? For the same price as the JPEG only you can pick up multi codec cameras that will be more useful. The AV1315 and AV2815 are Compact H.264. I have the AV2815 and it is very small but not that impressed with the image quality so far.

Does your vms support failover or redundant servers?
  14. I think the compact mjpeg are use less but the compact h.264 can be useful.
  15. Yea your not gonna get that image quality or reliability from Geo

    AXIS P3346

True, but there are tradeoffs. My very first camera was a CNB, and the interlacing distortion drove me absolutely insane! What good is better low-light performance if the jaggies prevent you from seeing important details? Personally, I would rather have progressive scan, even if it means adding more lighting to the system. +1

    AXIS P3346

Every camera needs light, but typically lower resolution cameras perform better at night. Rory if your gonna post stuff like this please do it in FULL Res not CIF. Also FYI your posting dealer pricing.
  20. Depends on the DVR if you can control PTZ and trigger recordings. But motion detectors, door contacts, panic buttons etc

  23. Not at all, I would hire someone that can set the camera/dvr up properly. But thats not what I asked. Guess I will start a new thread then, maybe someone else knows. Rory whats the point you will just complain that they are to expensive to import.
  24. Rory you seam to find images like this useful. Myself and my customers do not. CNB VCM-24VF My customers want this.
