Building the Ultimate 16 Camera PC DVR
thewireguys replied to AutoM8's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Rory, we are not going there. You can't compare CNB to Avigilon not even close. If you want image quality and ease of use Avigilon is the way to go. If you want cheap cameras CNB is your option. -

The customer is looking for a LIVE viewing. I would not recommend a IP system for this setup. -
Building the Ultimate 16 Camera PC DVR

Avigilon will give you the best image quality. The Pro cameras are very nice but the JPEG2000 and H.264 very good as well. -
They are cheap cameras use them till they stop working then get new ones or do the job right and order outdoor dome cameras.

I would not bother with a heater.....

Mobotix cameras can do that on there own without MxEasy or MxCC.... Yes you can view the camera directly on Android phones. -

danielsan2222 and cglaser VideoIQ can do everything and more. You can have central station receive alerts, review the video, 2-way audio to the perp, and call the police. Or you can just have a link of the alarm video emailed to you so you can review on your own. -

If you need MAC or Linux support then Exacq is a better choice. I find mobile phone support to be more a novelty then anything else until you can control the system like you can with the client software. Only homeowners have asked for this none of the Businesses or Gov jobs have. Aviglons software and cameras are just great. Keep in mind Avigilon was designed from the ground up for HD/Megapixel video where everyone else is adapting from analog video. Exacq is redesigning the the search page but I have a feeling it will never be as good as Avigilon unless they redo the back end. -

email notification that actually works
thewireguys replied to cglaeser's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
The conversion would probably go faster if ... - iPhone and other smart phones are supported, is feature rich, and responsive - email notification was fixed - ActiveX is not required I doubt they will fix the last one, but the other two would certainly be nice. The Avigilon video lock is very useful. Crossing my fingers that Exacq will take note and implement it. Best, Christopher 1) I can almost guarantee you Avigilon's Iphone App will be as good as there software is and more powerful then Exacq. 2) Email does work you just need your own mail server running on site. 3) The ActiveX web viewer is fantastic just like I client software and I hope they do not change it. What are you referring to ... Video Lock? -

Milestone software
thewireguys replied to holden's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Are you sure? I was working with Xprotect Essential just today, and configuring a couple of Mobotix cameras (D12s). It had an option to use on-camera motion detection. Did you get it work? -
Milestone software
thewireguys replied to holden's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I don't think Milestone can do that because Milestone does all motion detection on the sever not on the camera. Your better off using the web interface on a lower res or MxControl Center. -
What cameras are you using?

Powerful IP Speed dome camera
thewireguys replied to redliner's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
But he asked for "as zoom and resolution as possible" sorry your cameras just can't cut it. I would not recommend using off-brand IP cameras from company's like yourself.... you will run into many compatibly issues. Stick with the big well know company's and you will have much better results. Also I see your products are made in China..... stay away. -

Why not sell the equipment at cost and charge for every last minute of labor?
-
The correct approach to this issue is determined by the operational requirement as defined by the HOSDB. Once you have an idea of the likely target, size of image required, speed, environmental conditions etc you can consider technology. Typically if you look at integrated cameras maximum zoom of around 122mm on 1/4" CDD this will offer the usable distance. This should be considered against the best practical lens of 240mm fitted onto a box camera. Calculators are available on-line to assist here. Financial considerations regarding the cost of transmission should be considered. In the UK megapixel cameras tend not to be used in this application due to interface issues. Hope this helps Ilkie Ilkie.... Could you explain this more please?
