thats very interesting. so in my case then, where i have a porch light on all night either model i get will most likely always stay in color, correct? I would only spec the d/n Sanyo cameras if I was using IR. -

indoor version Avigilon 1080P is about the same and outdoor by the time you add the backbox and heater to Sanyo (and if you can get the parts ) the Avigilon is cheaper then Sanyo. -
Help with a large NVR set up from scratch
thewireguys replied to ProposalmanJ's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
You need to build a new network for this setup. If they have spare (dark) fiber between buildings you could use this and it would save alot of money but do not run this system on there network. -
Focusing a MP camera

What do you mean "better"? More X zoom? Faster autofocus? Just better picture? Avigilon is both motorized zoom and focus. When you mount the camera us just have to aim it then you log into you laptop and remote zoom and focus. Sanyo was nice but Avigilon better. And yes the Avigilon H.264 cameras have a better image then Sanyo. -

+1 Also, with Sanyo cameras you can do pre-focus and angle choose (if no remote zoom) like standard camera with analog service monitor. Otherwise - lots of time to do this job.... hi guys, im a total newb when it comes to ip cameras but im thinking the sanyo 3100 or 3300 fits inside my budget for a front door camera. i have a 120watt light thats on at night on a timer and the porch area is 7' wide x 4' deep. in setting up the sanyo, are you saying that i have to do nothing at all in regards to manually focusing it? once installed and running, the camera focuses each time someone enters the area automatically? and secondly, would the 3100 serve me fine for my purpose since i have the light on or would i still get better night performance with the 3300? thanks for the help! From my tests with a 3100 and 2300 I like the low light image better in color then B/W. Sanyos image gets very noisy in low b/w settings. -

This is a huge system and if you do not have any experience with IP cameras I would not recommend going IP. -
Sanyo 4MP DN dome
thewireguys replied to bpzle's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Supply issues and they way the run things. There is only one rep for the whole country. Getting cameras are hit and miss but getting accessories forget it. I have been waiting 2 months for a back box. Also Panasonic now owns Sanyo security so how much longer will they be around? I think the Sanyo HD images look good but when you start to drill into the image the detail just isn't there. -

Focusing a MP camera
thewireguys replied to ChrisH's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I didn't spec the job and now that I have to focus many 10MP cameras 50ft in air when it is 10 degrees out ,when I know I could be saving many hours of labor while my butt will be in a chair in a warm room. Auto focus would be very nice right now. -

Large install
thewireguys replied to thewireguys's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Yea it's a big network.... let me put it to you this way the old analog system was run with rg-59 to a central location in each bulding then they used NVT for a 50 pair from bulding (a) to central location of building (b) then they grabbed the cameras in building (b) and used a 100 pair to jump to bulding © where the 64 channel DVR is located. I would say the longest run from DVR to farthest camera is 3500-4000 feet. our setup is Server to core switch building A, fiber from building A to B and A to C, then in building C we jump from IDF 1 to IDF 2 with coper over 270ft then from all switches we go out to cameras with cat5 or coax converters. We will have some distance issues in the one building we will have runs from switch to camera that are pushing over 500ft. -
Large install
thewireguys replied to thewireguys's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
We put are own network in. They had 2 spare fiber between hangers and they are ours now. All 4 switches we installed are for our network and cameras only. Every camera we either reused the camera rg-59 or pulled new wire to each camera. Also so the 2 week install time is now gonna be 4 weeks and we will be using Theia Lenses. -

thewireguys replied to thewireguys's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Your funny.... You have know idea how big this place is. 10 total cameras up now five 5MP and five 10MP. We now have connectively between all 4 switches and have IP coax converts running over 360ft on RG-59. -

thewireguys replied to MarcoZandrini's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
We've got two dual core computers, each with 4GB of RAM and a 500GB drive. Thanks to your help and suggestions (thanks ), we'll run 24vac to the cameras. Thanks! Mark What VMS software?
