    Avigilon Software

Well the Control Center Client and Server is very very nice. Searching a full day of 4 megapixel cameras is instant and I am getting full 30 FPS from Sanyo HD cameras.

    GeoVision Fisheye Camera - Video

We do this all the time. How do you like the total Geovision solution? What limitations have you run into sticking with a closed solution?

    GeoVision Fisheye Camera - Video

The list price for the Q24 is $1548 The list price for the Geo is $550 Thats a huge difference, we all know that they can both be had online for cheaper, in the case of Geo 1/2 the price, which makes the Geo one well within the budget of most. The Geo one definitely will hit a huge majority of the market that cannot afford the Mobotix, at least for indoors. Ofcourse without the Geo software it will probably be useless though, but even that is cheap with a 1 channel NVR license (for their IP cameras) being just $50 list price, or free with existing Geo systems. According to the specs the Geo also has VOIP (built in mic and audio). Rory your pricing on the Mobotix is incorrect see here>>>> http://www.mobotix.com/eng_US/Products/Cameras/Hemispheric-Q24?tab=25957#tab So the Geo the $550 plus a computer for recording. Mobotix has that all built into the camera. Also yes GEO has (built in mic and audio) but it is not VOIP. I have a VOIP video phone on my desk can direct connect to the camera and have a full duplex conversion with the person and see them on the display.

The Q24 is $999 but that includes everything you need but a POE injector.. unlike the GEO all of the decoding is done inside the camera along with the recoding with the built in NVR with 8GB of storage. Also the VOIP and audio settings as very cool.

    Mobotix and NAS

Why not just use the onboard storage for one camera?

    Mobotix and NAS

I have used QNAP and Mobotix recommends Overland Storage. http://www.overlandstorage.com/ I would skip the cheap units. Are you going to use MXCC, Easy or the web interface?

Seams like a toy compared to the Mobotix camera. Here is a Mobotix Q24 mounted outside on the front of a house. lol well they are all toys, especially since they cant see much under low light Mobotix has a B/W low light version " title="Applause" />

Adam.... does the GEO do the decoding on the computer or in the camera? the Mobotix cameras does everything in the camera and if GEO does the same and it looks the same I think Mobotix will not be so happy about this. FYI with the Mobotix camera you only need a computer to view the recorded video because the NVR is built into the camera. Also is the GEO IP66 rated?

    GeoVision Fisheye Camera - Video

I am referring to the similarities of the cameras not the fish eye technology even though Mobotix was the first to do the image processing in the camera. I would not be surprised if Mobotix would sue them. Axis sued Vivotek and won because of the camera design. Vivotek used to have a camera that looked just like this. Now it looks like this.

Fish eye lenses been out for years before Mobotix even came on the scene. Rory that is not just the lens the camera looks just like the Mobotix Q24 GEO Mobotix

    LPR / ANPR advice

Can you provide a little more detail on the 2 camera issue. I am trying to do something very similar. Is this because they are not in focus or? Thanks, trying to learn (just a hobbyist). So you can setup one camera for night time and other other for day time. One Color and one B/W.
  18. I am currently installing a job that has IOImage fixed and PTZ cameras installed. I am recomsioning the cameras and setting the analytics up on them. So far I have been working with the PTZ camera and I must say when setup correctly the autonomous target tracking with zoom is very very good. We are using the IOImages to detect and track humans inside a fenced in area where no one should be. I will tell you you must spend the time setting up the distances correctly and I am talking hours per camera. A big thank you to Leon @ DVTEL for spending a lot of time with my on the phone showing we every detail if there cameras. one of the best tech support phone calls I have ever experienced. As with any other camera they are a tool and when used correctly (and setup correctly) they are very effective. I will see if the customer will let me post a video.

    1500' Cat5 video loss

Interesting, I have only seen 1000ft boxes. I guess you could order longer lengths.
  20. Will be interesting to see the difference under truly extreme backlighting conditions. I've seen a lot of instances where lesser cameras are fine and people question the extra cost for the SDIII... but then there are the times when, for example, you get a "stylish" restaurant with a dim interior, and bright summer sun shining through a glass door, and you want to get a clear shot of the person's face coming in the door, and the lesser camera just doesn't do the job. That is exactly what we have. They have a large bar with all glass wall behind it and they what to identify people at the bar. Right now there is one 484 but they will need 5 of them to give them the coverage they need/want. This is the worse case for a camera, large windows with direct sunlight and low light at night time. We are doing a proof of concept and they want to start with this camera so I have my work cut out for me but if I do it right there are anther 160 cameras to replace.
  21. I am very happy with the image quality from the Sanyo cameras I have installed and demo images I have seen. Now support and getting product that is a different story.
