Converting a DVRL into an NVR - help anyone?
thewireguys replied to habarraclough's topic in General Digital Discussion
Sorry man your information is wrong. How is a 520tvl camera similar to a 1.3MP camera, its's 4 times the resolution!!!!! I can do and have done megapixel system for a couple hundred more then analog systems. We are talking apples and oranges here comparing $40 cameras to $600+ megapixel cameras of course you system will be cheaper. But then your talking name brand $300 plus analog cameras, stuff with warranties and manufacture support megapixel is much easier to sell. Also the your talking about Cisco 24 port POE I am assuming you mean the Linksys version. Indoor yes you can use analog res stuff to get face shots for hallways and doors but outside/large open areas megapixel really shins. Take the Arecont 8185 180 camera, it gives you the same resolution as 24 analog cameras. So even with 24 of your $40 analog cameras, power supply's, cable runs, 32 channel dvr, and labor its cheaper to install the one Arecont 180 camera. Megapixel cameras are tools, and you need to use the right tool for the job. -
New to CCTV, about to install one camera residential system

All comes down to price and and options. ACTI is a lower end cost effective system. Look at Mobotix and Axis for multi-browser support. -

thewireguys replied to habarraclough's topic in General Digital Discussion
The advantage is image quality and versatility. Do you want to see whats going on or do you want to identify the object or person in the video. does your customer want this (A) or this: (B) After showing customers both images I have yet to have one say they want (A) -

thewireguys replied to CODE4's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
SSD's will not work well for recording video. ACTI requires EI to view video so it will not work with Andriod or any mobile phones with out a app. Also I would not recommend sending emails based on motion detection because you could receive thousands of emails based off of light changes, weather, among other things. Consumer grade drives will work fine for recording video but Enterprise grade drives will last longer and should be more reliable. -

I think you will have to go with Milestone Professional to get mobile phone support and it will be a added charge. I know the iPhone app is $999 What phone platform are you looking for? Exacq works will them all and they have iPhone apps and soon a Andriod. -
Are you streaming your camera 24/7 or storing locally and viewing when needed? Where are you located at? If you can get Sprint 4G your data is unlimited.

If you want to deal direct I wouldn't contact DWG. What manufacturer's product do you want to carry?

You will make it for it in labor savings with the rotary hammer. -

I have drilled many holes with a regular hammer drill once I got a rotary hammer drill the regular drill is only used for wood and metal. Trust me spend the money for a rotary. -

A rotary hammer drill should make quick work of this. http://www.boschtools.com/Products/Tools/Pages/BoschProductCategory.aspx?catid=68 Long drill bits http://www.boschtools.com/Products/Accessories/Pages/BoschProductCategory.aspx?catid=137 -

Questions on porch camera
thewireguys replied to Anthony A.'s topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I think your solution will work but it is not a professional solution meaning not something myself or other integrators would install the way you are. Will the laptop work yes but for how long that is the question. Yes you can get a 5 MP camera and it will work but you will have to stretch the image to fill the screen were as a 720P or 1080P will natively full your screen without stretching and will look a lot better. -

I have never used it with Avermedia but that absolutely is a 180 panoramic camera. You will get alot more image detail with the Arecont then the Q24. 3 MP q24 vs 4 2MP images 8MP total Arecont. Once again I recommend the AV8185 vs AV8180
-
Yes I know Arecont cameras. I do not recommend the AV8180, it is Mjpeg only and will require lots of storage and bandwidth. Use the AV8185 it is H.264 more money but you will save on storage. http://www.arecontvision.com/index.php?section=product&subsection=product_details&product_id=24

Consumer gigabit switches work fine in small camera counts. I am assuming that you will be using Mobotix MxCC or Easy if you go the Mobotix route. I would recommend downloading MxCC Demo and take it for a spin so you can see if your comfortable with it. http://www.mobotix.com/eng_US/Support2/Software-Downloads -

Re: Looking for a Stand Alone 8 Channel Full D1 DVR .

You own a small liquor store right? So how would you feel if people could go online and buy your products cheaper then you can buy them for from an unknown source? How long will you be in business? You know nothing about this business and obviously don't care about professionals that come on this site for FREE to help you for FREE and then complain that know one helps you within 5min and disregard forum rules. When you come back for help with your DVR good luck finding it. -

I ordered the SHR-8082 for more than $300 less than what you proposed as the "minimum". I will get it on friday. I am not technically retarded. I can read manuals. GOOD DAY SIR!! Any where exactly did I say they are not authorized? I didn't "propose" anything to you, you where the one looking for 8 channels 30FPS @d1 I was just stating no of the DVRs listed meet your requirements. I was trying to protect you but sounds like you have it all figured out. Price I posted was MSRP which is on the forum rules. >>>> viewtopic.php?f=33&t=3144 -
Looking for a Stand Alone 8 Channel Full D1 DVR .
thewireguys replied to gunit00's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Thanks for you help i guess. But you ended up being flat out wrong in all in both of your statements. First off, 2MCCTV is an excellent site. I just called them up personal. They were extremely nice and helpfully. Even a fellow CCTV forum user,"SEANHAWG" can vouch for them. Secondly, you were way off on your pricing. I got the Samsung SHR-8082 for more the $300 less than what you proposed. Good day sir. Sorry I was not way off my pricing, I was going off of MSRP. Which is as per forum rules is the pricing we can post. Good luck -
Re: Looking for a Stand Alone 8 Channel Full D1 DVR .
thewireguys replied to gunit00's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Awesome, I am glad to here some affirmation on Samsung DVRs. I was going to purchase it from 2mcctv . I read website reviews for 2mcctv. Most reviews were stellar. Here is a link to the reviews http://www.google.com/products/seller?cmi=9628878730035200&q=SAMSUNG+SHR-8082&hl=en&ei=y-WOTJjSFonQ2ATLseitBg&sa=X&ved=0CB0QlQgwAjgA . I was told by a member on this site that 2mcctv is an unauthorized dealer and that the Samsung manufacture warranty would not be granted. Is this true or malarkey? If you know of any "authorized" samsung dealers please pm me. Why did you start another thread? I don't know if 2mcctv is or isn't a "authorized" dealer. If you want to find out call the manufacture if you call 2mcctv they will just tell you they are so they get the sale. I just find it interesting that your are looking for a quality product not from a "no-name" brand but then your gonna shop it around to find the cheapest price on the internet. The fact is it's more important to buy it from a dealer that knows the product, has support, and can answer any question you have about the product with out having to pick up the manual. Also in your other threads you stated you wanted a clean clear image and I am guessing you think you will get that with 30FPS. If you want better images HD/Megapixel is the way to go. I also would recommend for your setup that 15IPS or less will be just fine because none of the DVRs that have been listed can do 30FPS @D1 all channels.
