I just got one of these in today and I am impressed with the image quality for the price, very good. I go 1 and tape the connectors because its easier to service and you still have the warranty. -
Questions on porch camera
thewireguys replied to Anthony A.'s topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
A little over-simplified - 1280x1024, for example, is not 4:3. More importantly, "720p" and "1080p" refer to SPECIFIC HDTV standards, and are used improperly *as marketing terms* in almost all cases when applied to CCTV cameras. There are a very few that do true 720p/1080p output via HDMI, and except for those few, the terms really should not be used in relation to surveillance/IP cameras. Back to the OP's question: since there's no way to directly interface an IP camera to your TV(s), you're probably better off to look for cameras that do actually have HDMI output; it may require extenders (not cheap) to get the signal there, but that will still be cheaper, and FAR less complicated, than the alternatives. All that aside, is there some reason you NEED high-def image of your front porch? If it's just to see who's there, you should be able to get a perfectly usable picture from a standard analog camera run to one of your TV's composite inputs. No, it won't look "super cool", but it will let you see who's standing there, for about 1/10th the price of the HD options (by the time you factor in camera, cabling, extenders, etc.) Soundy his plan is to use a small pc and HDMI distribution over cat to his TVs.... I would skip the computer and go with a Sanyo HD with HDMI output to your tvs if your hell bent on HD/Megapixel. -
Looking for a Stand Alone 8 Channel Full D1 DVR .
thewireguys replied to gunit00's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Exactly. If your are a sales man CCTV_Suppliers at least match what I am asking for. Any other suggestions? I am looking for something that has a great track record. I just want to to set it up and forget it. I don't trust these no-names for long term use So your looking for a good DVR (not no-name) then why would you buy it from a no name webshop that probably knows nothing about this product and has no support or even worse they are not a authorized dealer so you will not have a manufacture warranty? Your not gonna find quality 8 channel 240@D1 from a authorized dealer for less then around $1500. I push products that I know like the back of my hand, use everyday, and are trained from the manufacture. Just curious why do you need 30fps per channel? -

720P and 1080P are 16/9 formats just like your TV. All of the other resolutions are 4/3 which will not fully fill the TV. -
Questions on porch camera
thewireguys replied to Anthony A.'s topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I wouldn't go with a 1.3 or a 2MP if you want to fill up your screen. I would use 720P or 1080P then you will not have bars on the left and right. You problem is going to find a low light MP camera that you will be have with. Arecont 3135 and Mobotix M12 are the to best low light cameras on the market right now both are 3MP day and 1.3MP night and both are over $1000. -

You need a 1080P or 2MP camera for full resolution on your LCD. How do you plan on getting the images on your LCD? -

ExacqVision EL-S Hybrid vs ExacqVision Desktop Hybrid
thewireguys replied to alpine0000's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Depends on the HD size and number of analog channels 8 or 16. 250GB 500GB 750GB 1000GB 2000GB -
Anyone have any experience with any on this list besides Keyscan? http://www.exacq.com/support/access-control.html I know how to install it I did it for my previous employers but I never spec'd the jobs so I don't know to much about the codes. We use to install KERI systems and they were easy to install and very reliable but I would want the system to be integrated with the Exacq. http://www.kerisys.com/ What about HID Edge devices.... any one using that stuff? http://www.hidglobal.com/technology.php?tech_cat=11&subcat_id=21

PoE cameras losing images every 12 hrs or so
thewireguys replied to WebViewCCTV's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Well correct me if i am wrong but from what I read he was able to connect to the camera but it was not streaming video until he restarted the camera. I would say it's a POE issue if he could not connect to the cameras at all, but this sounds like a camera firmware issue. I know there was an issue with the last version on Axises firmware on there new P and Q cameras. They had a quick fix something like 5.12.1 -

^^^^ agreed Arecont does have video good image quality when setup properly.

Pic qualty is good for a small camera. Any analog with a BNC connector will work. I can view Axis cameras on my IPAD without a problem.

thewireguys replied to WebViewCCTV's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I would upgrade the firmware in the cameras and see if that fixes it. -
Mobotix--- any others?
thewireguys replied to ccsystems's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
which software did you try? MxCC or MxEasy also you don't need to use the software you can do everything with the cameras web interface even with multiple cameras. -
Probably has as much to do with static IPs being more a "business" option, vs. "residential". Yup
-
Also I have found when you have a dynamic IP address ISPs block ports and limit bandwidth. When customers get a static IP they don't have these restrictions.
