  1. A T1 is only 1.5MB most business class cable modems are a lot faster. You will have a admin nightmare setting up 6 IP cameras and letting 6 people log in per-camera and we haven't even discussed resolution and FPS. http://www.usrelay.com/products/eLiveStream/

    noobie cctv setup

This is the IP camera section and I think you are looking for analog cameras. Mod please move to Security Cameras - Residential
  5. You will never get 30-80 people to connect to a NVR or IP camera simultaneously. You will need to setup a streaming server and/or a website site for people to log into with this many and it will not be cheap. You could look into something like http://www.ustream.tv/ or http://www.usrelay.com/
  6. I have also confirmed this with Ubiquiti.
  7. The Q24 is a great camera if used in the correct situation just like any other camera. The Q24 is for wide coverage with no blind spots, not detail images of peoples faces 30 ft away. If you where going to use the Q24 in the location where the Vivoteks are installed and you wanted detail it would never work. The Q24 is a tool just every other camera, use the correct tool for the job! At those outside locations if you tried a M12 you say the Vivotek image is crap. What are you using for recording?
  8. Will it work yes, but most importantly will it be reliable NO and why would you want to look at 2 different software to view your cameras? I don't use AverMedia but don't they have hybrid NVR software? You might get it to work with VMs but I would not recommend something like this. Do it right and use one solution there are plenty of Hybrid options out there.

    CIF, D1, H.264 Mayhem!

Just record at Mjpeg with no compression. Don't know if DVRs can be setup like this but VMS can.

    Dog Kennel Application

I had his idea 2 years ago and I got laughed at when I brought it up to the own of a dog kenel. You could number the kenels the same as the ports. I would just add an addional one time charge to view the camera. Another idea would be to use VMS software so they could see recorded footage.
  14. So H.264 is still better for LAN traffic because you are still compressing at the camera. Sounds like you guys need to start implementing this on cameras for you to get a lot of market penetration.
  15. Also since your still streaming mjpeg your product is designed to help with storage and remote clients? LAN bandwidth is not reduced from the cameras to the NVR. Is my thinking correct?
  16. thewireguys

    Any other NVR available?

Keep I'm mind the nuuo mini has a total bandwidth limit and with more then one Mobotix or Sanyo at full res your gonna have problems.

    How to avoid "smart" customers?

Your the do it yourself customer and that is fine. We have to make money and marking up equipment is one way we have to do it. All the time we spend designing, quoting, ordering, shipping, phone calls, warranty, interest charges, stock, delivery, insurance ... that is time we spend and we have to get payed for with product markup. I have no problem with my customers ordering there own product, it saves me a lot time and headaches. Except when all of the product is not on site the day of install, something doesn't work and has to be replaced (second trip to site), or they don't order products I spec'd. But I will not warranty your stuff, you can buy a service plan or pay per hour. Personally I like smart customers they make my job easier , I don't have to spend my time explaining why the ADT package is cheaper. But what I don't like is the customer is that waist my time when do a site survey with them, design and quote system (this takes a lot of time to do right) only to have them shop it on the internet and do it themselves.

    What is the exposure setting?
  21. No RCA they have BNC connectors and you can get adapters if needed.

  23. That is the problem going with little known ip camera manufactures, you will lack tech support and VMS integration. I have never used greadstream cameras (not saying that they are bad) but I also don't hear my dealer/installer friends talking about them. Just because it is IP and megapixel doesn't mean it is any good. Milestone has the broadest supported hardware and most well know VMS with a list of over 80 different camera manufatures and Grandstream is not one of them. Take a look at Axis, Arecont, Acti, Sanyo, Sony, and IQI. They all work with the best NVR software and are proven reliable products.

    Any other NVR available?

Qnap is the only other NAS type NVR that I know of. http://www.qnap.com/Products2.asp If you need more of a enterprise and or hybrid solution Exacq sells turnkey NVRs ready to go. Www.Exacq.com
  25. Yes I have heard that from multiple people about Pelco. Arecont uses less CPU with h.264 then mjpeg.
