    ACTi ACM-1231 Review

Put it out in a open field and see what happens, you have a lot of extra light in that shot. What is the exposure set to?
  2. Are you a dealer/installer?
  3. IQI is the one camera manufacture I have yet to try. Just can't find a reason, they're not cheaper and I haven't seen a image from one of there cameras that I was impressed with. What is the deal? Tell me why I should try IQI cameras.
  4. Would you post a pic of the lens please.
  5. Thanks They are using a 5MP sensor because they are doing some sort of Binning technology like Arecont and Panasonic is using for low light performance.

If I remember tonight, I'll point the camera that way and capture an image. Hardwire, that's a good difference. The question then becomes, do you spend the money to buy the better lens, or buy the better camera with a better lens already on it. I like those Acti cubes, good price point and interchangable lenses and fits in some outdoor housings. Buy the right camera for the job and get the best lens you can afford. The 4201 is a indoor camera so putting it outside is not recommend
  7. Which is the same lens that I have and the same lens on Areconts web site and my product sheets.

You must have a special 1231 because all of the ones I have installed will not project 50ft with the IR.
  9. Wonder what lens Axis is using on the 1347 5MP since they where claiming the lens technology was not good enough for 3MP and up. I was also told that Axis tries lens from every manufacture on each camera till they find the best image. I have the P1346 and the image quality is very good. http://www.axis.com/products/cam_p1347/

Rory my point is I have figured out a way to sell quality mega-pixel systems for a little more then good analog systems.

    CIF, D1, H.264 Mayhem!

Max pixel count for 99% of NTSC analog cameras is 768x494 or less. A very few may be higher (Panasonic WV-CW5xx claims 976x494) but, despite its claimed 650 lines of horizontal resolution in color mode, no other analog equipment is capable of recording or displaying that. I disagree, other then some cheap chinese brands most 480-600tvl have a total pixel count of 811x508. If it claims high res and does not have 811x508 i stay clear of it, regardless of what res the recorder does. Ofcourse whether the specs are correct or not is another thing, thats why one uses a reputable brand. I still don't understand why 811x508 cameras mean anything if you can record at a max D1 704x480

Ask them what they see when the burglar cleans them out and is covering their face as most do ...!! Could have saved those extra thousands for some extra razor wire, better alarm system, or extra bullets Rory I give it... Your right I should sell everyone analog crappy video

Im not up against that, there are no Costcos in this country Also there is a huge diff between one of those systems and a professional system. The average person is not willing to spend an extra $3000 (eg. diff between a 4 channel CCTV and 4 IP cam setup) for something that still wont catch the criminals face, since the majority of burglars cover their faces with such things as masks, caps, or tee shirts. There is a big difference between 4 channel CCTV system and a 4 camera megapixel setup.
  15. Not made by Arecont they are Kowa lens http://www.kowa-usa.com/frontend/proddetail.asp?pn=LMVZ41&co=10000343
  16. What is the Manufacture and model number? What is the customers budget? "2 qualified electricians who have some knowledge of the subject" thats scary

Stand Alone NVR or Hybrid options?

Exacq is coming out with a 8 channel h.264 hybrd-DVR with support for up to 24 IP cameras which might be a good fit for you. http://www.exacq.com/products/exacqvisionELS.html PM me if you would like pricing
  19. Foscam should not be spec'd for a system like this. You what a toy camera to play around at home one of these would do great. Also I would like to see the list of NVR software that supports these cameras. He said he had a DVR and a standard DVR will not record IP cameras.
  20. This is fine if your playing around at your house but never sell something like this to a customer. This will never work correctly and the customer will be very unhappy. Yes there are wireless systems that can do this but you will spend way more for the product then you would to wire the system.
  21. Where did he say that...?? Foscam IP cameras = toys Sent me a PM

I am also not a big fan of Vivotek and most of the NVR software engineers I talk to are not a fan either.
  23. Using wireless for a system like this is asking for trouble. If you can get power to the location you can get network. You said your using Foscam IP cameras never heard of them, what DVR are you using. Why are you using a DVR and not a NVR.
  24. What is the manufacture of the IP camera. Specs don't help.
  25. What is the DVR model number? Why do you want to use wireless? I would never recommend wireless for a setup like this. Wire everything or the title of your next thread will be "why don't my wireless cameras work"
