I thought I saw you over their. What are you trying to set it up as? Streakwave has a great book "learn router OS" that has a ton of good info and this link has some how-to's http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/MikroTik_RouterOS This stuff is so powerful and it is priced just right. Have you done any wireless PTP or PTMP links yet?

They are streaming at a lower resolution and recording at 3mp. No problem reading that plate at full res. Mobotix's support sucks but there product is very good. You need to order one of them and you will understand. Attend a class for $600 and get a Q24 and you will see the light. No problems with Areconts support very easy to get in contact with them. -

if you use an Atom based Exacq as a server only you will not have any problems. Look at the Exacq EL box it is Atom based.

Good luck with VI Try Exacq and you will never look back. Avigilon has very nice software also but 350 per license is steep. -
I checked out this camera at ISC and it was very impressed with the price to performance. I will be specifying this cameras for low light jobs.

Sorry guys i didn't get to meet up I we had a ruff nite So what did you guys see that was good or new? I spent alot of time at the Avigilon booth and I will be getting my hands on a demo setup. Sony has a new dome camera with built in IR but the camera auto adjusts the IR level so you don't get hot spots and wash out. I walked right up to the camera and put my hand with in 12inchs of the the camera and you could see the IR dim and you could see the lines on my hands not just a white blob on the monitor. Veracity has a new Pointsource battery powered POE injector so you can setup IP cameras without power. Axis has a new 5MP camera and lower cost cameras without the bells a whistles. The image quality on the MP cameras with the P-iris is very nice. Arecont as the new 10MP which is very nice. We also when over to CTIA and looked at all the new cell/wireless systems. The new HTC EVO for Sprint with 4G is awesome!!! This is my new phone and I can't wait till it is released. That is all for now......

IP Cameras Spot Monitor
thewireguys replied to cwkamms's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I will have to ask..... I normally setup a wireless access point and use my small laptop or soon a Ipad or new cell phone HTC EVO. Also Veracity introduced the Pointsource at ISC. It is a battery powered POE injector so you can setup cameras without local power. It is not one their website yet. -

connecting DVR to Internet using 3G Sierra Wireless
thewireguys replied to lomak's topic in Computers/Networking
Well you only need a cross over cable if your computer doesn't have a gigabyte NIC. But the only way I know how to do this is with a router. You have a PC with a 3g card and you want to connect your DVR to the NIC on your PC and be able to remote in to your DVR. As far as I know you are going to need a router for that. Let me know if you get it working without one. -

connecting DVR to Internet using 3G Sierra Wireless
thewireguys replied to lomak's topic in Computers/Networking
You don't have to use the WLAN of the router you would use 2 network cables one for the DVR and one for the computer.
