How do you locally record an IP PTZ at a remote location?
thewireguys replied to scorpion's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I am finding it's a lot cheaper to build your own. This is a setup with a mesh radio and a Mobotix camera. Very small and easy to install. Hirdwired: What is the power draw of your box? -
Yes you will need a permit and a electrician to put stuff on the polls I would NOT just go and hang a box with out one. How are you going to get power?

How do you locally record an IP PTZ at a remote location?
thewireguys replied to scorpion's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Yes working on a Exacq PTZ setup right now. I am using Axis 233d PTZ and a very small custom computer for recording and a wireless access point or mesh network or 3G card. check out........ http://estore.dotworkz.com/Dotworkz-D3-Xero-NVR-p/d3-cdx.htm not cheap but works well your looking $5,000 + just for the housing and mini NVR plus the camera and they are around $2000-3000 These setups are not cheap fixed Mobotix setups are around $5,000 and PTZ setups with wireless can run up to $15,000 plus install. -
Software for generic IP?
thewireguys replied to tintin_dk's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
why not try there software..... http://www.kingdisplay.net/en/product/products_detail.aspx?ClassID=14&id=205 I have never heard of those cameras so you will have a hard time finding 3rd party NVR software support. -
I am also working on a portable and/or pole solution but as of right no it doesn't have to be hidden. A Mobotix camera with a SD card, embedded 3g modem and a small IP66 housing and your done. You can also use a small solar setup do you don't need power. I would like to use this for hidden setups. http://www.mobotix.com/eng_US/content/view/full/37540

Exacq screwed up the evidence
thewireguys replied to cglaeser's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Yes, I know the camera does video compression. Let's make sure we are on the same page. Are you saying that a jpeg image pulled from an h.264 video stream has the identical detail as a jpeg image generated by the camera? They certainly are not the same for the Panasonic 502. Best, Christopher LOL..... You need Mobotix cameras they will do everything you want and then some. -

thewireguys replied to cglaeser's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
The jpeg images generated by the camera have somewhat better detail than the jpeg images extracted from the video stream due to video compression artifacts. Best, Christopher That doesn't make any sense. The camera is doing the compression Exacq doesn't. You should get the same image in Exacq as you would FTP. I will post some images to compare tomorrow. -
Exacq screwed up the evidence
thewireguys replied to cglaeser's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Correct, because the time stamp overlay is generated by the camera. I do it this way so the ftp images will have a time stamp. Of course, I can add another time stamp overlay on top of that in the ExacqVision video, but then things get real confusing for those who don't know the details. One time stamp says 10 am and the other says 6 pm. Best, Christopher Just so you know the time from Exacq isn't permanently burned in the image you can remove after you export the video if you would need to. I understand your frustration with this and I have also talked to Exacq about this and the issue that they tell me is every manufacture does the time differently. Take Arecont for example, they don't keep any time in the camera Exacq handles it. Now I don't know how to write code so I have know idea how easy it would be for them to change this but I know know if you use Exacq as your NVR and you don't need to use the FTP or other features in the camera it works just fine. -

So both the time stamp in the Exacq footage and your ftp images are off? -
Question on Camera Focus
thewireguys replied to TVEngineer77's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
That one's not megapixel, either, and it's 1/3". In the Computar, the H3Z4518CS-MPIR 4.5-13.2mm is the one to use. Also, Fujinon makes the DV3.4X3.8SA-1 3.8-13mm lens that's F1.4, gives a little better light gathering than the Computar at F1.8, also the Tamron M12VM412 4-12mm is F1.4. In the 1/3" megapixel format, Tamron has them down to F1.0 now, handy considering the native handicap CMOS megapixel imagers have compared to CCD. This is the lens that he is using and it is not a MP lens -
An Open Letter to Exacq

But 4.0 is out with mapping, live, recorded, and PTZ control in the web browser, and Active Directory integration. The mapping and full featured web browser are very nice. -
Question on Camera Focus
thewireguys replied to TVEngineer77's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
The OP said the lens is 4.5-12.5. The megapixel lens you posted (H3Z4518CS-MPIR) is a 4.5-13.2mm. Computar makes 4.5-12.5 IR standard lenses (H3Z4512CS-IR or HG3Z4512FCS-IR), but not in megapixel. I believe the focus problem may be caused by using a non-megapixel lens. That camera uses a 1/2" sensor. Be careful with lens selection because many megapixel (and standard) lenses are designed for 1/3" cameras. Computar's selection of 1/2" (and 2/3", which you can also use) megapixel lenses is quite limited; especially varifocal. They make the one listed above (manual iris only), two 4-8mm 1/2" (manual iris and auto iris) and one 12-36mm 2/3" (manual iris). You are correct...... This is the lens that should be used with 1/2 sensor. This is the one I meant to post. http://computarganz.com/product_view.cfm?product_id=522 -

I am also looking into IoImage but they where just bought out by DvTel so I don't know what is going to happen with the 3rd party NVR compatibility in the future. You might want to give them a call and ask what the plan is. -

you could also use a video encoder so you don't have to have a PC running all the time if you don't plan on recording. http://www.acti.com/product/detail/Video_Server/ACD-2300

Axis does this well. Panasonic can not upload to folders. Oh, OK. What about the Axis GUI interface? Best, Christopher What GUI are you taking about? The web interface of the camera that shows a list if files that are stored on the SD card? Would you mind posting a screen shot? This is from Panasonic's manual. FTP Client - Alarm image transfer, FTP Periodic transfer, Active/Passive selectable (When the FTP periodic transmission is failed, backup on an optional SD memory card is available.)
-
Panasonic is a near miss (can't create folders via ftp), but what about Axis? Best, Christopher I don't want to look though folders to find video, Panasonic and Axis do this well. I want a GUI interface to interact with and Mobotix is your only option.
