Question - How to convert VGA to IP camera?

If you just want to view the live video you can use a Video Encoder like this one hooked to the video out of the DVR. http://www.axis.com/products/cam_m7001/index.htm If the DVR has a network port and you have admin rights to the unit you can put the DVR on the network and then you can view live and recorded footage.

First use the AV100 software to setup the Arecont and make sure you save settings to flash. What do you have the "low light mode" set too? Did you setup custom exposure zones?

  12. Hello, there. As for the security surveillance for houses, here I'd like to say something as following: Generally speaking, it needs about 4 ~ 8 cameras & one DVR (PC-based or standalone) For cameras, they could be Box camera, Dome camera, IR camera, Bullet camera, Vandal proof dome camera, spy camera etc. On average, they are ranging from $15 to $80 (middle end). As for DVR, PC-based dvr is about $300 ~ $350 (with HDD); AND it is about $200 ~ $300 (without HDD) for standalone DVR. DVR or DVR cards from Aopvision company may be a good choice for some of you. You could contact Thomas (thomas_gong)-skype for any further information no matter you are in need or not. Besides business, we might be friends, couldn't we?? Best regards, Low end equpment
  13. The AV8*** are not low light cameras. When used in the proper situation they have a very impressive image. I have a install with a AV8185 outdoors with lighting for night time images. The day time images is amazing and the night image does exactly what the customer wanted. The cars driving by are a blur but when they stop and the people get out and walk around we are able to identify the people, what they are doing and what make and model car they are driving. Arecont does not recommend the AV8**** for LP or low light. Have you attended Arecont's training? Out of the 25 cameras you are testing what do you like?

    Lux Meters?

I have a Extech EasyView 31 and it works very well. It has a .01 sensitivity and was under $150. I would spend the money and get a good one.
  16. We use the dome more often, because around here, people turn bullets into pinata's.... Other than that, the 1231's are fine. Acti told me the 1231 and the 7411 are the same camera but in different housings. Plus the 1231 has the IR.
  17. Any word on what the improvements will be? Best, Christopher Faster processor better frame rates for the 4's.... hardware wise

    PIR and other digital alarms

Thanks. I want to install an ultra low light camera (e.g. 1/2" Exview) and I can't find a suitable IP camera, and while an Axis video encoder is an option, I think a DVR may be a better option for me. Which 8 channel DVR should I consider that offers good value, where value means not the cheapest, but something that is a solid performer for the price. As for requirements, it should be network capable, support motion alarms and digital PIR alarms. I think I would prefer a box rather than a PC card. Recommendations? Best, Christopher Why not use a encoder, small server and 3 NVR licenses? Keep in mind you will need a DVR/NVR that can record megapixel cameras.
  22. Exacq has Hybrid NVRs with Analog cards in them and you can use video encoders for analog cameras.
