Anyone install any other cameras than Dahua or Hik?
thewireguys replied to Maniek's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
We install Avigilon every day. Everything from the micro domes to the PRO cameras. Really looking forward to the new Avigilon cameras with built-in analytics. VideoIQ cameras are EOL and now the analytics are in Avigilon cameras moving forward. That being said I am looking forward to testing Hikvisions new Smart Pro-cameras. 6MP @ 30FPS and in the same price range as Avigilon and Axis -
High Rez + Low Light Mutually Exclusive?
thewireguys replied to Quantum's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Besides the Avigilon promo restaurant scene, are there any other Avigilon 1.3MP LightCatcher samples? Best, Christopher I have installed them for customers where low light is critical and I have been impressed with the low light performance without any motion blur. -
We use Drawings in Google Drive and I am now looking at Revu. http://bluebeam.com/us/products/revu/

PTZ to monitor 270 degree view with auto tracking- VERY LONG
thewireguys replied to jgv's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I would use 4 180 Arecont cameras and call it a day. You will NEVER get PTZ tracking to work reliably in a outdoor environment If you really have your heart set on PTZ cameras you might be best to look at something like this. GNjVbE71XdU -
Outdoor Wifi License Plate Camera

I wouldn't use the Avigilon dome I would recommend the bullet for LPR. -
PTZ to monitor 270 degree view with auto tracking- VERY LONG
thewireguys replied to jgv's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Great idea on paper but not so good in real life. The PTZ cameras will track ANYTHING that moves and if you have multiple objects it can't track both. If this was in a controlled indoor environment I think it would work well but I think you are going to be very disappointed in your plan to deploy this in a outdoor environment. Also while the camera is panning I don't think it will be able to detect an object and start tracking it. You you be better off using fixed cameras to trigger the PTZ to move to different zones and then start auto tracking. -
We use a lot of HP's 2920 series switches and have been very happy.

POE Injector Vs Switch (When you need each)
thewireguys replied to NewbyB's topic in Computers/Networking
Normally we only use injectors when we are only installing one/or two cameras and the current switches are non-POE. -

Axis T8640 Ethernet over coax adaptor
thewireguys replied to sac's topic in General Digital Discussion
Never used the Axis units and FYI they look like they are just rebranding Veracity's Highwire units. We use Vigitron for our ethernet over COAX and have been very happy. http://www.vigitron.com/91/Vi2401A_MaxiiCopper_High_Speed_Ethernet_Extender_over_Coax.aspx -
Axis M3007-PV fisheye ONVIF awesomeness
thewireguys replied to mkkoskin's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Ohhhh. OK. So Avigilon *can* take the single warped stream and de-warp it? I was under the impression that Avigilon couldnt handle de-warped or warped streams coming from the camera... I must've mis-understood. So sending a warped stream to Avigilon from this camera and having Avigilon do the de-warping works fine? Also, can Avigilon handle motion detection from this camera? Avigilon is working with Immervision lenses not the Axis camera. The Axis camera will record and work with Avigilon but you only get the full fisheye image. That being said LOTS of new stuff coming with 5.4 in a couple of weeks. -

I am not defending this guy but without knowing the exact equipment you are getting you are just speculating on the price. -

Do you know the exact hardware your installer is quoting or is this all the info you have? -
Axis M3007-PV fisheye ONVIF awesomeness
thewireguys replied to mkkoskin's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Well considering Avigilon already records multiple streams from their own cameras I don't think their would be a second license cost. That being said recording the full image and dewarping the live/recording makes more sense which is exactly what they are doing. -
Perimeter Protection / video analytics
thewireguys replied to bumann's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Depending on how much light you have to work with I would we would use analytics with day/night or thermal cameras. With low cost thermal cameras you can get well beyond 50m for detection range -

There will be no issues recording the stream now decoding live 4K 30FPS streams is another story. All of you that a so excited about 4K 30FPS are going to have a wake up call when you trying to decode multiple 4K 30FPS streams on your clients. -
avigilon client connection
thewireguys replied to finalwish's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
If you look at on your server where you have Control Center Admin Tool running you can see the ports that are required for remote access for the client software. Control Center Admin Tool> Settings> Network To configure the Gateway ports you will do this from the Gateway configuration browser. If you have not change the ports and you have nothing else running on port 80 you will be able to congiure the Avigilon Gateway Server by clicking on the Avigilon Control Center Gateway icon or entering 127.0.0.1 in your browser on your server. -

Avigilon's compatability with Hiklvision's audio
thewireguys replied to loop's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
The audio controls show up in the configuration page in ACC 5. That being said I have not tested the audio with Hikvision in Avigilon but we have many projects using Avigilon with Avigilon cameras without issue. -
