You can post prices but it must be MSRP not dealer or "account prices". "Please refrain from posting special prices available only to dealers or installers in our forums. When in doubt, post the MSRP. " -

Outdoor motion detectors
thewireguys replied to thewireguys's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Thanks guys...... CROW and Optex look like they will be a good fit for what I need. I am not to worried about false alarms becuase I know they will be less then what we are getting from video motion detection. -

If you have a 10/100/1000 port on your computer a "strait-thru" cable will work for a direct connection. Put your computer on the same sub net and run the ACTI camera configure software and you should be good to go. -
According to Arecont 100-120 PPF for facial recognition but they recommend you use the specs analytic software you are using. I haven't used facial recognition so I can't recommend from experience. Arecont recommends 45PPF for LPR and I have had great results when I spec systems using this as a guideline.

Designing an IP CCTV system with 20-30 cameras
thewireguys replied to koolmer's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I have been looking on the Website of Exacq. They give a nice big list of supported cameras. I want to avoid any blur on moving objects, but don't know what to look for exactly. I understand that CCDs are better than CMOS, but I don't know why exactly. Better low light performance? For MP cameras I like Arecont, but they have only CMOS. For the rest I don't know yet. CMOS vs CCD ...... Well I have used all CMOS except for Basler and I know Arecont, Mobotix and Axis have better images but to each is own. I would strongly recommend you do alot of research before to tackle a ip system this size. -

You will need one access point per camera and one to receive the signal from the all of the cameras. So 6 for the cameras and 1 to receive. The Ubiquiti's are outdoor rated so you don't have to cover or protect them. If you can't run a wire I would get 2 more access points to create a back bone link from the pole to the house but a cat5 would be best. Hardwired do you agree? -
Designing an IP CCTV system with 20-30 cameras
thewireguys replied to koolmer's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Well I have setup Networks for office use and sometimes for LAN parties when I was 15 , but no network of this size and not for IP cameras. I do believe that I have the skill to get the Network to work, but I need to know which components to use - there will be a separate Network for the cameras of course. Most cameras are going to be normal D1 resolution and there will be a few Megapixel cams (4-6). I think a Gigabit Network with Cat6 should do the Job, but correct me if I am wrong. The cameras will be displayed on two big LCD screens between 26-32". I would like to use Exacq, as their videos have impressed me. I actually have only seen one complete IP CCTV system so far in a building nearby and this has really left a bad imression. The system consists of 16 cameras recorded by a server and displayed on a client machine. Cameras were run over the same Network as all computers of the place. What was so bad about it was the FPS and the quality of moving objects. Somebody who would just walk by a camera could impossibly be recognized. Everything that moved was extremely blurry, while still images were really clear. A 5MP camera in the outside was only giving a slide show with max 2 FPS. Every analogue system that I have installed was better than that! With a 5MP normally you will not need more then 2-3 FPS if your covering large areas. You can if you want to but you will eat up a lot of storage and bandwidth. What cameras do you plain on using. -

You can use Axis's design tool to get an idea about the bandwidth IP cameras will use. http://www.axis.com/products/video/design_tool/calculator.htm Also Crirvine is correct IP cctv is a completely different animal then cctv. I do not recommend a 30 camera install for your first job. -

Mobotix camera question
thewireguys replied to akelley's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
If you are a dealer/installer you can contact Mobotix to purchase some demo units at a discounted rate. Yes Mobotix is working on the firmware update to use the sd card as the ring buffer and I have heard rumors of a day/night Q24 but I don't know if that is true. -
How could I mount this and is it any good
thewireguys replied to Slim3001's topic in Security Cameras
According to Panasonic's web site the WVCL920A is a 120V camera. That camera can be used outside if you put it in a housing. Also if you want a low-voltage version you can go with the WV-CL924A it is 12/24volts which can also be installed in a housing and used outdoors. http://catalog2.panasonic.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ModelList?storeId=11201&catalogId=13051&catGroupId=14458&surfModel=WV-CL920A Why did you select this camera? Do you need need super low light performance? -

Arecont Customer Service Portal
thewireguys replied to Kiwi's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Yea don't use Areconts software for recording just use it to setup the IPs and some other stuff then uninstall it. The Arecont product isn't for everyone but if you need good compression, high frame rates, and great image quality they have a great solution. And that is why I stay away from Milestone and Onssi there pricing is ridiculous. There is no reason to charge for server and client license fees. What do you need the 5MP for? Also what state are you in that you use audio recording? As Soundy suggests look at IQI -
What part of PA are you from?

use http://imageshack.us/ Why not just use an NVR software that works with the Iphone and save the $900? Well I am a Partner with Lextech labs and they don't charge the $899 price anymore. They charge $30/month per user for up to 6 cameras. They have different dealer programs. I have only used GeoVision NVR software, which company supports iPhone? Also did I mention the guy budget was $2500 and he wanted 6 additional high res cameras with a new 16 ch dvr? He didn't want to spend money on IP cams. I thought Lextech only worked with IP cameras and select NVR software. They do, I was going to use a 4 channel network video server to stream his video for his iphone. I can recommend Exacq for the DVR/NVR solution it supports Iphone and Blackberry at no extra charge.
