Designing an IP CCTV system with 20-30 cameras
thewireguys replied to koolmer's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Exacq works very well with muilt-monitor setups. I am a big fan of there NVR software. For cameras I recommend Axis Acti or Arecont but you can look at the supported camera list on Exacq's site for the full list they support. As for your switch selection ( I am assuming you meant switch not router) any of the 48 port higher end switches from Netgear, D-link will work you can also go the Cisco route. Most important is to make sure you have enough POE power for your camera load. -
Arecont Customer Service Portal
thewireguys replied to Kiwi's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Your right Arecont cameras are not web camera they are security cameras I like Mobotix alot but you can't get the FPS that Arecont cameras put out and they don't work with every NVR software. Arecont is still the only manufacture that has h.264 in 3MP, 5MP, 8MP and soon a 10MP. Forget about Mobotix for a second, all of the stuff that Axis and Acti can do in the cameras my NVR software can do. So I think that is a waste, give me better compression and higher fps and that is what Arecont does. As for Arecont crashing IE8 and once again they are not web cameras they are designed to be setup with there software. Did you notice in the web interface that the fps where very slow? They make this perfectly clear at there training. Take the Arecont training class and you will see them in a different light. And to touch on the port forwarding first I would be switching to a different router. Second why are you port forwarding each camera? -
Any MAC IP Server Software?
thewireguys replied to rory's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Just client but the server will run on linux -
use http://imageshack.us/ Why not just use an NVR software that works with the Iphone and save the $900? Well I am a Partner with Lextech labs and they don't charge the $899 price anymore. They charge $30/month per user for up to 6 cameras. They have different dealer programs. I have only used GeoVision NVR software, which company supports iPhone? Also did I mention the guy budget was $2500 and he wanted 6 additional high res cameras with a new 16 ch dvr? He didn't want to spend money on IP cams. I thought Lextech only worked with IP cameras and select NVR software.

Tools needed to get started
thewireguys replied to blake's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Anyone else use this? I've seen this thing at supply houses before. Almost looks too good to be true. I would have bought it already if it wasn't for the steep price. Like $250 I think? I would think the magnet would leave marks on the wall. -
http://ipconfigure.com/ sorry only server 2003 but you could call and ask if it works with 2008

It's not the BEST option, but there's nothing inherently wrong with it. A pendant mount is preferable to help keep rain off the bubble, but it's not the end of the world if you have to mount the dome directly to the wall. Giving it a good application of Rain-X before it goes into service, will help a lot (I do this all the time with cameras inside car washes, helps IMMENSELY). Arecont makes a wall mount bracket for the Megadomes..... i highly recommend it -

Also keep in mind some company's like Arecont are going to start cracking down on unauthorized internet sales and they say they are not going to honor the warranty of cameras perchused from unauthorized dealers. Also you paying for the experience, training, and tools that we have worked for over many years. (not speaking for the quotes you got don't know anything about the company's) I can along speak for myself, other professionals I work with and the very intelligent guys that help out on this forum. I spend ALOT of money and time on all the training I have in my signature.

Aimetis is great software but you need a phd to setup and use it. You can download a free 60 trial and test it out for yourself. https://www.aimetis.com/xnet/AccountCreate.aspx?m=Trial -
Need help designing an IP camera system
thewireguys replied to gfdcxgfd's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Hum..... I don't think the image is that bad, looks like a $300 MP camera image ..... I can make out the plate on the white van fine. The truck is LP is meaning less so that doesn't count. I am guessing the speed they are going is around 5mph so nothing special but I have seen worse. What do you expect for that price? -
Need help designing an IP camera system
thewireguys replied to gfdcxgfd's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Hey sorry for the late response been busy! But yeah man the miniNVR looks pretty good I'm going to look into it more as I find a client that needs ip cameras. Thanks for the suggestion! Anyways what do ya'll think of the quality? (Quote from the other post I made) The picture is AMAZING when there is not alot of sunlight but when the damn Florida sun shines its freaking horrible! I'll try and get some pictures when I can. *Note this is picture taken when I was installing an analog system, I decided to see what the ip camera would look like. Its decent but I don't think it would work for my clients. What camera is that? -
Are Solid State Disk Drives for PC DVR a good idea?

What case do you use? Also it would be easier to recover the system if you used 2 HD's one for OS and one for storage. If the storage drive dies all you have to do is replace the drive no OS to reinstall. It the OS dies and you have a back up solution like Acronis you can replace the drive and have it backup very quickly. I just started playing with Acronis for my NVR builds and it works very well. Once I have the system setup I burn the image on DVD and save it in my customers file. Also I would not trust ebay for my NVR builds. The cheapest 256gb SSD on Newegg is $595. http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=2010150636%201421446019&name=256GB -

Wave-P Megapixel Camera
thewireguys replied to nocturnal59's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
http://www.wave-p.com.cn/en/productsc3.htm Interesting but they are only 960×720 so that is not megapixel........ false advertising Can you post some images? -
Mobotix has one of the best megapixel images in the industry. That price is with 2 3MP imagers which is more then enough to cover the inside of the car and can see out of the windows if placed properly. Also you don't have to buy any extra dvr/nvr solutions it's built into the camera. If you know how to setup logic in the camera for recording events the 32gig of SD storage would be enough for a couple of days. Also if you need more you can at a usb harddrive directly to the camera which could give you months of storage. Mobotix 3MP image
