looking to upgrade my system !

Well if you put 3 party hard drives in the Dell you void the warranty. I have a job with 1 (5MP) 1 (1.3MP) and 4 (D1) cameras recording on motion and 3 (1.3MP) recording 24/7. All of them are outdoors except one D1 and 1 (1.3MP) and I get over 9 days of storage with one 1TB. Also that price for the Atom box that I build is with Windows. Exacq runs great on Linux so you can take that price down to $470 with a TB drive in it. This is just from my experience and what I would recommend. The dell is a fine solution too. -

The server is way over kill and 5 TB is was to much for home setup. 1TB would be more then enough. 1TB with motion recoding will give you more then a week of storage. This one of the major reasons I like Exacq NVR software I can record those cameras on a $600 machine with a Atom processor. Less noise, alot smaller and very little electric with the Atom setup. A -

Any 5MP camera does not have the pixel density to see the emblem on that truck with the FOV that is setup. -

Yea..... it's up on a pole so can't do much about it now till he adds more cameras and I have the lift again. It is really hard to focus the camera with your laptop in your hand on the lift. You need to be in a dark room so you can see the image really well. -

IQI Starddot Arecont Avigilon Are the only 5MP camera manufactures that I know of. Sanyo has a line of 4MP cameras. Also it is cheaper to get the dome version of Arecont cameras then it is to get the camera, lens, and housing. -

http://www.aboundi.com/Product/PLC/APL4100-200.html This product works very well. I have tried them in every outlet in my house and it always works. Also I have use it to stream 4 1.3 megapixel cameras over powerline and it worked great. Sweet! What's the MSRP on that baby? I don't remember..... I only wish it had POE output I have the owners info I talked to him for awhile and I order a demo kit from him to test. -

ACTi ACM-7411 anyone with night shots?
thewireguys replied to 3RDIGLBL's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Let us know about that firmware and how it works. I couldn't get that version to work with Exacq either, I'll try it with Milestone later. BTW, I'm not sure what you will gain when using it with Exacq anyways, I kind of thought of this new version as a step closer to a standalone platform, like Mobotix. It seems to have some possible applications in that sense. I think this update is closer to Axis then Mobotix. They have the advantage that you can trigger day/night setting for the motion windows over Axis but they are no where near the capabilities of Mobotix. I like the ability to send images to email on event and until Exacq can do that this will be a work around. -

Soundy what lens ? -
How long is this road your covering? Instead of getting too fancy and impracticable with lenses, why not mount closer to the FOV and just make a wireless IP mesh network? Check out these guys: http://www.ubnt.com/ Does Ubiquiti do mesh networking? I though they where point to point and point to multi point. http://www.ubnt.com/wiki/index.php/Bullet_Nano_mesh cool

ACTi ACM-7411 anyone with night shots?
thewireguys replied to 3RDIGLBL's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I updated the firmware and everything works fine till I try and connect Exacq to the camera. When I try, the camera locks up and I have power cycle the camera to be able to log into the web interface again. Called Exacq and Acti....... Acti has a beta firmware they are sending out that will work. 3.11.11 not working with Exacq -

Need help choosing the right camera..
thewireguys replied to dona.paula's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Do you plan on adding other cameras to besides this one to read plates? what is your total system budget? You have two options to do what you want. The cheap way and the right way. If you go the cheap way you might as well throw away your money because the system is not going to do what you want. This is what you will get for around $650. Acti has a 1.3 MP cameras but they are not going to have the resolution you require, lens you need or the FPS. You can see sample images here. http://www.cctvforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=18773 -

thewireguys replied to dona.paula's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
If you can find a 3MP camera with WDR and a 5 to 50mm lens for $650 let me know. Also keep in mind a WDR camera is not going to help that much with the head lights and tale lights. I recommend you look at Mobotix with the total system cost in mind. One Mobotix M12 for $1500 + POE injector $50 and a small NAS $300 = $1850 easy install 3MP camera $1000 + housing $150 + lens $350 + Server $600 - $1000 + NVR license $150 = $2250 - $2650 more labor -
Same idea but completly different. Immervision is just the lens you will a compatable camera, NVR, and software. Mobotix Q24 does all of this in the camera without a computer.
