    System For Catching Internal Theft

Yes the harddrive hooks up though a USB connection if you get one that takes power over the USB connection you will not have to run any other power to the camera. Also you can not unplug the USB and plug it into a computer to view the files. You have to have it connected to the camera and log into the camera to view the footage. This may seam like a PTA but it for security reasons so no one can steal the hard drive, plug it into any computer and view the footage. This is why I recommend hooking it up to the internet so you can remotely view and control the camera without having to drive out to the site to get the camera and harddrive. If you don't have a internet connection you can direct connect your laptop to the camera to review the footage. "emixt.com" is incorrect he is taking about the web version of the Q24 that doesn't have the built-in DVR and it is D1 resolution. This camera will not work for your setup. You need part number MX-Q24M-Sec-D11 and you will need the Mobotix USB cable for USB to connect to the harddrive plus a POE injector.
  2. What NVR software are you using? This is not going to be easy. Do you have IR or while light to illuminate the plates at night? Do the cars stay in there lanes or is it just a big open road? A 3 MP camera with give you a pixel density of 150 ppm at 14 meters wide which is enough to read US plate on a 12m FOV. If you control the traffic day time will not be a problem but night time will be a different animal. A Mobotix M12 could do what you want and can be setup to see LP's at night without being blinded by the head lights and tail lights.

The model that you want is the Q24M-Sec. Then the only other thing you would need is a POE injector and a USB drive if you want. The unit comes with 4 GB of storage built in which maybe enough depending on how much you check it.

Do you have internet connection at this site? Since the site is far away you could us a IP camera or encoder with onboard storage and hook it up to your network. Then you could remotely watch what is going on and view the recorded footage. You will spend more money for a setup like this but it might be a good ROI so you don't have to drive out there and spend the time watching the video. I don't know what your budget is but and what your room looks like but Mobotix makes a great camera with onboard storage. You would have to run one Cat5 to the camera though but one camera can cover an entire room with it's 360 degree view. Best part is it doesn't even look like a camera and there is no software to install. Everything is done in the camera. Just an idea for you. http://www.mobotix.com/eng_US/content/view/full/25611

    camera on stucco

If you careful you could also use a hole saw..... Push the wire in... drill the hole... then hook the wire back out

I like using the round metal boxes I think they look better then the rectangle boxes with cameras mounted to them.
  7. Check out www.mobotix.com . If you have a Voip phone system you can add a camera as a extension and use the phones to open the doors and talk to the person at the door. It is alittle out of your price range but it is definitely worth a look.
  8. Agreed on both counts. There is no one perfect camera, DVR, or software style for every application - that's WHY so many different variations exist! Agreed.... I would be nice for everyone to list there favorite NVR software solution and list the advantages and disadvantages if each. This could be very helpful for everyone.
  9. thewireguys

    Why! Why!

Interesting question..... Most of the time for NVR software it is a limitation of the cameras, the server hardware and/or the network.
  10. Im really getting tired of how anal some of you guys are. Its like talking to 10 year olds sometimes. I dont have explain anything but I said BROWSER BASED APPS SUCK. Anything that has to run within a browser sucks. That is my opinion. I could explain it more in depth but I dont see any point as I dont care whether you or anyone else uses it or not. End of story. So you expect a bunch of very intelligent cctv and IT guys not to be anal? Come on Rory, I was just curious to know your experience with this software to know that it sucks.

4ch remote access dvr any suggestions

    How ironic.....
  12. Guess I need to repeat myself: Browser based apps suck. Best to install a client. If they want to use crappy software, thats their rights. But ofcourse, everything posted on this forum is just a persons opinion. How do you know their software sucks? Because that it is very bold statement if you never used it. It worked very well when I tested it for 2 months. The only reason I am not using it for our solution is I want one NVR software solution to support and their software doesn't make sense for smaller camera counts.
  13. Well it must not suck that bad since it beat out Onssi, Milestone, and Genetec to win the United States Postal Service. "ipConfigure won the largest deployment of IP video surveillance software in the history of IP. Since 2009, ipConfigure has supported 50,000 cameras and 1,500 locations for the United States Postal Service"
  14. IPconfigure is a great solution. http://www.ipconfigure.com/ No client software to install because it is entirely web based, with support for unlimited cameras and unlimited users. This software is a little difficult to install but once it is the web interface is the easiest I have used, very little training required. The motion detection is server based but they do it differently then everyone else so it does not require a lot of CPU cycles. Advantages: No Client Software Map Interface Unlimited cameras Unlimited users Independent live and recording frame rates Auto discovery of IP cameras Active Directory LPR Disadvantages: Not the best for smaller setups No audio support Xeon pro and Windows Server 2003 32bit required Limited camera support not the easiest to install
  15. Your questions do not offend me but your unprovoked attack did. So, if it is not my questions, then must be Lamborghini comment? Why don't you recommend some software?

    Remote Monitors

It would be a lot easier to troubleshoot if you put the mult-output video card in a computer in the other building but the VGA Extenders will work. I have used Gefen products and they work well. This one will do 1920 x 1200 http://www.gefen.com/kvm/dproduct.jsp?prod_id=1463

    thank you very much
  18. Your questions do not offend me but your unprovoked attack did.
  19. Who actually attacked you my friend? Here is your post reply against me: CCTV_Suppliers I am gonna assume you don't know anything about Avigilon. I wander how you "assumed" this when my question was very specific on pricing of Enterprise Solutions?? Looks to me that you rather not read posts and reply on what you assume it states... Lets see now, who is attacking who again? Man, get your story straight and do not create something that is not there nor "assume" on anything that is above your level of comprehension... I guess if you do not want to take the challenge on pricing of your software solutions, then say you do not want to or can not do it. Do not turn this thread to gain some personal gratification on your level of expertise... I was responding to your comment. You think that was an attack? Sorry I didn't know you knew anything about Avigilon......... relax this is only the internet.
  20. Man, you are a firecracker aren't you? This shows that you are new in this industry. All I asked is a question and I see that you want to take this matter to a different direction... Good things will follow sooner than later my friend... I will not share anything here as this thread is not addressing what you ask... Do you really want a pissing contest man? I already know what your limitations are, so do not go there. My intention was to ask few simple questions about pricing for so called "Enterprise level systems" and if you want to take this to somewhere else, then bring it on... Any IP software that charges more than a $1 is not a good solution for most. May be good for selected few which accounts for top 1%, how about the ordinary "Joe". I know you will disagree with this, as you do not know any better... as your calcs on Exacq shown in one of the other threads... Again, just to keep this in perspective, all I am asking for prices for these Enterprises Solutions to substantiate not if they work, rather how many people actually are using and average pricing in the market.. I know what the prices are, do you besides Exacq? I defending myself from someone who decided to attack me for no reason. There are thousands of NVR software products on the market. I have used, installed and tested many of them. I like Exacq because it works, it is at a good price point and my customers like it. You keep talking about IP software that is free or less then a $1. When you have it available to test myself and many people on this forum would be happy to try it. But right now their are not many free software NVR software solutions on the market and most of them are very limited in there capability or only support cameras from one manufacture.
  21. or you could try this http://safemanuals.com/user-guide-instructions-owner-manual/PANASONIC/BL-C111-_J
  22. They sell those that Office Max and Staples. Worse case you could go pick one up and then return it.
  23. dude..... I never said you don't know what your taking about . I was simply explaining if you want the best image quality on the market right now Avigilon is the only option and that their cameras only work with their software. When making comments like this, please make sure that you know what you are talking about and who you are referring your comments to! Just to keep everything on the same playing field, I have all these cameras and software from all the manufacturers, you name it, I have it - so that you understand that I have little more knowledge than you do. I have some cameras that you have not even heard of yet nor will have access to sell... some starting at $50K and higher... My questions were not which camera comes with the best image nor which software is better... rather trying to see if you and others are willing to share your charge amounts for for such applications. I thought I did make it clear, but I guess you missed it again... Once again I was not insulting your intelligence but since you want to insult mine. Why don't you show us some proof? Since you have access to cameras that are $50K plus that no one can get there hands on . You said you had access to sub $100 IP cameras before and I asked you for a link and you never responded? You say you are working on open source software but you have yet to provide anything for us to test. Instead of continuing this pissing contest why don't you answer some of the questions in this thread or keep this on topic. "Enterprise level systems. What's your favorite?" Whats yours?
