What do you expect out of this system? does you image look anything like this? or are you expecting this

Siamese cable = RG-59 plus a 2 conductor for power.... professional Coax can work but it not recomended unless it's all copper plus you have to run a separate power wire for the cameras. The RJ- connectors that Sams club uses 22 gage wire for video and power.... Junk My advice for you is let the professional do the job correctly.

Integrating Mobotix cameras into a Control4 home automation

Soundy, Thanks a lot for the advice. I was looking for something decent but it seems like I'm headed for a $400 bullet option that do well in low light. I realize I need some light for low light (day/night) non-ir options so I will try and leave a strategic light on. I do not think a "strategic light on" is the best choice, of course we need to count the quality of the security provided for the office area. If you need to "sleep well" I do recommend you to go for IR Cameras option (especially for closed spaces as office buildings). Why not leave a light on???? Then you have a color image so you can tell what color shirt they are wearing instead of a gray just gray.

That picture is 600x width. Anyway, Im done arguing on this, because its clear you have no experience with quality CCTV cameras. I realize it would suck to know my $70 Exview bullet camera can do just as good a job. Ofcourse you have to respond with another marketing pitch though .. I understand ... its all part of the sales method. Rory I got the specs of the image!!!! We are never gonna agree on this until you come out of analog land......... everybody else is enjoying HDTV and your watching your 13" B/W tube TV and saying its better Analog= better low light sensitivity then megapixel Megapixel = more resolution then analog -

OK lets get it clear .. we are talking about the image posted in this thread. You can go off on a marketing binge about other cameras in another thread. To obtain that image I only need 1 (ONE) CCTV Camera. Rory that's BS..... your say a analog camera will have the same image as a 1.3 megapixel camera. NOT TRUE Quit it man, that is NOT a 1.3 Megapixel IMAGE. If you hate, as you call it "analog" CCTV then why are you even on this forum?? It seems you hate a technology so much that you have never even used. Its an insult to anyone that has been in this PROVEN industry for years. Rory that camera has 3MP day/ 1.3 MP night imagers. That pic he posted is 1024*768 not full resolution of the camera. I know what that camera is capable of and you can't say a single analog camera is the same image. It seems you hate a technology so much that you have never even used? What the hell are you talking about? Analog cameras have better low light sensitivity!!! YES But to say a single analog camera can replace one megapixel camera and cover the same image with the same resolution is not true. -

What someone needs to come out with is a switch over component so one could use any 2 cameras for a dual camera set up .. then you could say hook up a 1.3MP camera and throw a standard Day night IR Camera on the side of it .. You mean what Arecont and Mobtoix have done? -
raytec ir lights and mobotix
thewireguys replied to griffonsystems's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I would only need 1 (ONE) Camera. And even if I did need a couple cameras, I only spend $200 while you spend $2000 and YES I can ID people, I have MANY times in the past, up to 100' away from the camera at night, example I helped cops put a murderer in jail from a cheap BW exview bullet at night. If you want the same resolution you need 4 analog cameras..... it's simple math. analog= .3MP Mobotix BW= 1.3MP And that $200 analog camera has a build in NVR? -
You can use encoders and analog cameras That's true. What kind of card do you have to get if you want to do a 16 channel? http://www.acti.com/product/detail/Video_Server/ACD-2400

um ... with expensive IR LOL. exview B/W or nuttin And you would need at least 4 analog B/W cameras to cover the same night time image..... Then you would need 8 analog color cameras to cover the day image...... Think I will stick with the Mobotix -

What is the highest CCTV camera resolution?
thewireguys replied to cctv_addicted's topic in Security Cameras
You have used and 32MP ip camera? Mind posting a link? I find this highly unlikely. -
Exacq does not make cameras they are a NVR software company. You can buy there software on a per-camera license to install on your own machine, you can get one of there turn key hybrid solutions or NVR solutions. If you are using analog cameras you have 2 options. 1) their hybrid servers http://www.exacq.com/products/hybridservers.html or http://www.exacq.com/products/exacqvisionEL.html 2) Build or buy your own machine and install there software. You can use video encodes for analog cameras. There software is a per camera license of $150. I have there software running on affordable and low power machines. You could have a 4 camera license system for $1000 + cameras .
