Axis video encoders + Pelco Spectra III w/ Coaxitron?
thewireguys replied to versello's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
No you would not be replacing the camera you would be placing the encoders at the cameras so you can use the 485 to control the Pelco Spectra III domes. You picked a 4 channel encoder, the link I send you was for 4 single channel encoders installed at the cameras using Veracity's Ethernet over RG-59 cable. -
Axis video encoders + Pelco Spectra III w/ Coaxitron?
thewireguys replied to versello's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Axis encoders use a separate 485/232 control cable. If you only have RG-59 to the cameras you could use this product from Veracity which will send Ethernet Over Video Cable. http://www.veracityusa.com/products/hwpoe/hwpoe.php Then I would use single Axis encoders M7001 at the cameras. http://www.axis.com/products/cam_m7001/index.htm Also I would recommend 3 party NVR software. What happens if you want to use a camera from a different manufacture down this line. If you use Axis NVR your SOL. -

PICTURES: Installing Panasonic dome outside under eave
thewireguys replied to alpine0000's topic in Security Cameras
It looks like my deck does have some very bright spots and some shady spots at the same time. I think a different camera would not deal with this lighting on the deck as well as the panasonic. I also know what i need to adjust on the camera when i get home for a better daytime picture Bedroom camera???? -

1.3MP is an ideal resolution for night cameras today
thewireguys replied to ando's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
You are correct about 1.3 MP at night with Areconts 3130/3135 and Mobotix's M12 the best. But with technology that Panasonic is using in there Panasonic WV-NP502 things are going to change. Arecont is releasing there 10MP camera which is using the same idea Panasonic has. 10MP day then 2MP night image and that is coming out the first of the year. Also I hear they are incorporating it into there 5MP camera. Then you can have the best of both worlds 5MP day and 1.3MP night. -

Arecont's at night and under IR illumination
thewireguys replied to zmxtech's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
So you want to know the best DN Arecont camera? Well obviously the 3130/3135 Then I would say the 1.3 ,2,3,amd 5 1.3 the best, 5MP being the least sensitive. -

Repetitive low light conditon cam recommendations /questions
thewireguys replied to bass1's topic in Security Cameras
Problem is... everybody has a different budget. There isnt a single camera that would be best for everybody. What is YOUR budget? $100? $200? $500? $1000? $5000? if you want the *BEST*, how much are you willing to spend for the best? Here is a really respectable camera with great usable night time video: http://www.mobotix.com/eng_US/Products/Cameras/DualNight-M12/M12D-Sec Is $1500 realistic for you to spend on one camera, though? Not for me You get way more then a camera when you go with Mobotix.... You have to look at the total system cost not just the price of the camera. -
update.... 10 cameras recording couple of days now..... system is rock solid. When the Zotac board arrives will swap boards and see how the h.264 playback on the box improves. Should be able to setup dual monitors with the Atom board.

I have know clue what Exacq uses for dvr cards. You would have to call Exacq and ask. My recommendation is to use IP encoders.
