also keep in mind with the POE switch you have one thing to plug in. If you go with injectors for 4 cameras now you have 5 things to find a place to plug in....... can be difficult if your putting stuff in outdoor boxes

ACTi ACM-7411 Power Question
thewireguys replied to 3RDIGLBL's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Acti needs a separate 12vdc power supply for extended temperature ranges. I just can't remember if you need it in addition to the POE or will the 12vdc power the heater/blower and camera. -
But the other PCs with the client software make up for it why would I tell them to get rid of the computers they already have?
-
Im in the digital world, dont know anything about an "analog" world you speak of. LOL also keep in mind this box only uses power.

ACTi ACM-7411 Power Question
thewireguys replied to 3RDIGLBL's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
They come with a 12dc 1.5A power supply -
Actually, a standard MATX desktop size, I can build a Dual Core System for under $200. As for price comparisons last I remember you said that IP software was $600 for a 4 channel license? Not to mention the cost of the cameras. All Im saying is why not spend the extra $200 for the core 2 CPU so a client could view the cameras locally like all other CCTV systems? Or at the least give them the option? Especially since they are already spending a fortune on the IP software and cameras. Im just looking for a way I can push it .. thats all You need to get out of the analog world.... the picture is much better over here

If they want a one box solution I can built it with the ION board.

So, no options?? options for what?

pretty sure thats whats in the Eee PCs. Side by side the Celeron 900s (which were in the first set of Eee PCs) are about the same speed if not faster according to tests at the time when they were released. Ive personally used both also and found them about the same. read this..... http://www.pcper.com/article.php?aid=664

Talked to them on the phone and they know what they are doing. Are going to have them built it and have them test it for you? Make sure your getting the 330 Atom and 2 gigs of ram is over kill. My system hasn't used more then 300MB

ACTi ACM-7411 Power Question
thewireguys replied to 3RDIGLBL's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
According to Acti you only need the extra heater and blower if you plan on powering up the cameras when it is very cold out. Also they come with plug in power supply's you can use if you want. -
9 cameras on the box now.

update. 9 cameras on the box now. Av3155 h.264 Av3130 mjpeg ACti 1231 mpeg-4 acti 7411 mpeg-4 Axis 233d mpeg-4 Axis 211 mpeg-4 axis p3301 h.264 Axis q4701 h.264 Axis 241Q meg-4 All cameras at max fame rates I have 6 more cameras 6 more IP cameras to add but I don't think that will be a problem. This setup should easily handle 30 megapixel IP cameras.

Keep in mind the way you have the mic mounted will also effect the sound quality...... drop ceilings will pick up all of the sound in the surrounding rooms. Just finished up an install using ACTI-4201's with audio (built in mic) and I was very surprised with the sound quality. I is very good.

Enterprise level systems. What's your favorite?
thewireguys replied to bpzle's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
It all depends on your customers needs I like Exacq because it works and great price point. You can also look into IPconfigure ONSSI Aimetis Mobotix And there is a lot more. My recommendation is use/demo them. Buy or build a server and get some IP cameras test it out BEFORE you think about selling any of it. You will save your self a lot of embarrassment this way. My only complaint with Exacq is they don't support Mobotix cameras. -
Mounting camera under soffit using 2x4 best method?
thewireguys replied to blake's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
You have 2 options 1) Remove soffit and insert backing board then close soffit back up 2) install backing board from attic
