Just finished up an install using Exacq with a spot monitor. Used an old dell the customer had for the spot monitor. All the customer has to do is press power to turn the box and then press power to turn it off at the end of the day.

Focus problem @ night...Speco Intensifier series
thewireguys replied to VIP's topic in Security Cameras
How is the motion blur on these cameras in the dark? -
Depends on which camera manufacture you are using? I know Axis has a decoder but I don't know if it can do matrix display. What NVR software are you using?

Need Long Range IP Camera
thewireguys replied to mediaeffects's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Thanks to zmxtech for the lens calc. According to this at 200ft a 4ft wide view would need a 246mm lens. The Axis 233d has a 119mm lens. I haven't found any all in one cameras that have a lens anything like 200mm. The HZDG 12240P lenses is about $2000 AUD. We just manage to fit one of these lenses into a Pelco Esprite but it is a tight fit. We make some physical mods to the lense and housing. And we are currently modifying an Esprite to support a megapixel IP camera. I will let you know how it goes. Mods to the Esprite include adding a Mil-Spec plug to the bottom to make them plug and play. Convert the power supply to make it solar friendly. Re-route the serial cables so the serial data comes from the camera. And replace the serial interface from the input to support IP to the camera including PoE. Here are some photo's unfortunately I couldn't find anything at 200m worth focusing on apart from piles of dirt so these photos are at least 500m away. Camera res is only 800x600, very dusty environment so all the trucks and equipment are covered in dust and are as dull as the photo's look. It is also very hot and deep so there are laminates of different air temperatures that bend the light coming to the cameras. So here are a bunch of near and far shots with a 240mm lens In the first two photo's the truck is 616m away, I have live feedback of GPS of all the equipment so I can accurately calculate the distance to the meter In these 3 photos the shove is 1364m away and 285m deep. The drills are 858m at 285m deep. The last shovel is only 510m away and 285m deep. The closeup is a bit blured as the capture snapped between two frames. What cameras? -
http://www.cctvforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=11322&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=75 go down to the pic if the camera on 2 tri-pods. That is 6000M if your budget allows talk to megapixel man he can get you more info. That setup is not cheap and I have know idea what you would do for a housing.

Re-installing XP on it's own partition and also going to setup a dual boot with Ubuntu to see how that works. Following this install guide for XP http://tweakhound.com/xp/installxp/installXP1.htm

Wonder if I could get this to fit into a camera housing?
-
I like that m350 but it can only take 2.5 drives and no dvd/cd drive.
-
Also I found 750gig 2.5 HDs. I wonder if they are as reliable as 3.5s? Less power and smaller could help full.

I dont know how much you know of the following so i'll just post it all. Reg Tweaks: You can right click "edit" to see what is being changed. Generally performance based tweaks, note SHARING is being disabled in this reg file, if you want to leave that feature find that section in there and just comment it out, then run it once you are ready. http://www.bahamassecurity.com/dl/?q=etwks2.0.reg Services Tweak: I normally just enable the Firewall and Audio, sometimes Themes. Ofcourse Printing will not work if Print Spooler is not enabled so check that also if you need it. Networking section applies to file sharing and remote desktop stuff. http://www.bahamassecurity.com/software/utilities/eservicesxp.asp Manual Tweaks: -Control Panel, System, Hardware, Hardware Profiles, Select the first profile listed if I dont select a profile in ... 0 seconds. -Control Panel, System, Hardware, Driver Signing, Ignore. -Control Panel, System, Hardware, Windows Update, Never Search. -Control Panel, System, Advanced, Performance, Settings, Visual Effects, Adjust for best performance. -Control Panel, System, Advanced, Startup and Recovery, Settings, Time to Display list of Operating Systems, 3 seconds -Control Panel, System, Advanced, Error Reporting, Disable -Control Panel, System, Remote, Uncheck both -Control Panel, System, Automatic Updates, Turn Off -Control Panel, System, System Restore, Turn Off -Control Panel, Display, Theme, Windows Classic -Control Panel, Display, Desktop, Background, None -Control Panel, Display, Desktop, Color, Black -Control Panel, Display, Screen Saver, None -My Computer, Right Click System Drive C:, Uncheck Indexing, Ignore. (you can turn the XP theme back on now if needed, it will still use the higher performance, less graphics) OTHER: -Defrag -Most startup items can be removed from Windows start up also, just run MsConfig, Startup, and uncheck everything - if you have Tweakui installed leave that. -If using an AV you will need to leave that as well. Scanners and/or All in one printers will need to stay on start up. -I disable the welcome screen and use tweakui's login page to set the default user to login (or you can do it using regedit) MISC: -If QOS and Server service (for File Sharing) is disabled then uninstall QOS and File Sharing from TCP/IP properties to get rid of Server and Perf event log errors. -Disable additional hardware startup drivers/services for faster boot. (eg. in regedit and services you can set to disabled or actually delete services such as the floppy, CD (if you never use one), Parallel Port, Serial Ports, etc - the service names vary and can be located in the boot log file you can create by checking that option in MSConfig) -I also disable Shell Hardware Detection and sometimes Windows Firewall. -Disable Themes for slightly faster response. -Use TCP/IP port filtering for added security (disable all but add the TCP/UDP ports) Thanks Rory..... Question.... The system is fast enough but I want reliability and security..... any recommendations for that. Also if I get this box tested and working reliably is there a way to image the HD to use for the next system I build with the same specs? It would save a lot of time if I didn't have to install the OS, drivers, updates and software for every system. I guess I am thinking about a VM machine that I could getting running the way I want then take a snap shot and install it on the new boxes as needed. Overisly I would need to does this as cost effective as possible.

Nice find!!! here is a review

This is a very good review of the Atom 330. He compares the 330 vs 230 vs VIA Nano L2100 http://www.pcper.com/article.php?aid=664

Why not just use 2 monitors one for each system? I know Milestone can do a matrix setup if you need more but they make you pay for it To bad your not using Exacq you could have 4 60inch plasma on one client machine.
-
Just checked this setup with my Kill-O-Watt meter and it pulls 39 watt when running. it's green too
-
2 video feeds (from different computers) on the same monitor at the same time?
-
everything is working great!!! Keep in mind this box is for recording not viewing but I wounder how the Atom with the Nvidia chip-set would do with live viewing. Any thoughts? Since I am giving all this free info out on the box if you are looking at with this setup please contact me so I can get you setup with the software.

And how does this work? Do you have a good link? I did see something like this at ISC but your talking $250,000 for the base model.

Thanks for the ideas guys. We meet with the township and we can't go the speed bump route because there is no way to force people to go over them. Also I know what will happen all of the people that are obeying the law will drive over them and the people we need to catch will pull up on the grass next to the dumpster and we will be out of luck. There just isn't a way to control the traffic here. So we are going with 2 Arecont AV1355DN to get plates and 1 AV8185 for overall coverage with added light for night time.
-
Need some ideas for this install I am doing. I need to get plates off of cars when they stop to dump there yard wast. The cars pull of the side off the road and stop but besides putting a camera directly in front of that car as 3 feet high I am running out of ideas. I don't want to do that because it will be very easy for someone to pull the camera off or cover it up. I am thinking a speed bump camera but there is no traffic pattern and we have snow. All cameras have to stay inside the red box and the blue box is where the cars park. The green Vs are the FOV of the cameras. I am thinking the speed bump cameras are the way to go. We are not using LPR software. Ideas?
