It came with sp3 installed. But you have way more knowalge then I do with windows so any pointers you might have I would like to take a look at them. Do you know of any free programs that I can run to torch-er test the box?

Thanks man Alright XP pro install and updated. This thing is surprisingly zippy for a 1.6 dual core. I have had the machine running for about 10 hours and everything is looking good. With the client closed CPU drops to 1 to 2%. Now this is what I am looking for Gonna let it run and record over night and see what happens.

Wireless IP cameras???? any ideas?
thewireguys replied to ronhithcox's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I have heard good reports on Avalan but not had first hand experience. My only comment on the Mobotix is to get the full resolution you need 4Mbps or more. Im not sure if it records a separate stream to the live. The IndigoVision I have used was set to stream live at 25ips CIF and record at 8ips 4CIF. It provided full PTZ control and only needed 512Mbps while the camera was not moving and 1.5Mbps while moving the PTZ. Yes Mobotix can record the full 3MP locally can you can view a different size image CIF, 4CIF, D1 whatever you want. Each user can also pull a different resolution. Why not look into EnGenius or Ubiquiti Networks so much cheaper then everything else. -
Arecont latest rumors :) or news
thewireguys replied to ak357's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
All the processing power? You make it sound as though Axis and Panasonic video quality suffers because they support ftp. The trend is distributed processing, where cameras of the future will be smart enough to recognize a crime in progress. Best, Christopher Then why is Arecont the only camera that can do h.264 compression at 5MP, 8MP, and now 10MP? And I think still 3MP -
Yes they use these. http://www.rayteccctv.com/ or you can pay extra and get them from axis

If it's in a housing forget about using the built in IR.

Arecont latest rumors :) or news
thewireguys replied to ak357's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Now, if Arecont will add the programmable autonomy of the Axis and Panasonic cameras (e.g. ftp on alarm, etc). Best, Christopher I must disagree..... Please keep them as security cameras only and use all of the processing power for video quality and h.264 compression. -
I would recommend the 214PTZ it have much better low light performance...... Do you have it in a housing?

Arecont latest rumors :) or news
thewireguys replied to ak357's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Just talked to my Arecont rep and he said the 10MP will be out the first of the year and they are using the same concept at as the new Panasonic 3MP cameras. The Arecont 10MP will be 10MP daytime and 2.1 at night and both will be h.264 unlike the Panasonic. They are also going to incorporate this into there other cameras. -
Mobotix cameras with images
thewireguys posted a topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I would like to hear some feedback from people on the Mobotix camera line and NVR software. I signed up for the Mobotix training (Free Q24) and just watched as webinar on the capabilities of the camera and I was very impressed. How easy is there software to use? Any one use the CAMIO? Watch the video review one the Q24 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ChqWds5BkLY Live image (I don't know which camera) scroll to the bottom image updates every minute http://weather.portofpa.com/jwmweather.htm M10(you can play back 1 image per hour last 24 hours, 1 image per day last 365 days) http://www.mobotix.ro/ro/webcam_recordings_679.html Found some good info here http://www.mobotix.com/eng_US/Support/User-Forum -
Axis solutions
thewireguys replied to vladimirb's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
If you want 250 Axis cameras I sell them too you and I will support you I know you said money is not an issue but the P33 is a better camera then 225FD..... Also I don't know where your located at but if it gets cold you need 12DV to power the heater/blower in addition to the POE. -
I didnt notice that, but can you list some IP LPR cameras, specifically for LPR I mean, for pitch dark apps and day time. Something that replaces say one of the Extreme CCTV LPR cameras ... the overview camera could be any cheap camera. I mean maybe he doesnt want to spend the huge amount of money they charge for somewhat adequate NVR software when he can plug the CCTV camera into a cheap sub $100 DVR He could always use the video server for the other cameras and throw up some CCTV cameras to save $$. Actually he could decode it at the other end and put it into a DVR also. Now just to find that MP LPR camera. Yea Mobotix And how much is that Extreme LPR camera?

Axis solutions
thewireguys replied to vladimirb's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Agreed plus I think you can get more for your money. $1000 for a D1 day/night vandal dome is a little much. The new P33's from Axis are cheaper and have H.264 and you can get 720P plus according to Axis's specs they have better low light performance. -
Streaming IP Cameras live for people to see
thewireguys replied to TVEngineer77's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Hmm, if I remember correct Arecont can do up to 8 concurrent streams I mean H.264 models Your thinking about the ROI in the AV100 software that is the only way to pull multi streams Hmm, let me look at Pdf's I dont have h.264 cam in stock now and I don't remember web GUI will check later i guess by the way Mike Arecont have prototype supporting ONVIF and/or PSIA "Multi-Streaming • Up to 8 concurrent non-identical streams with different frame rates, bit rates, resolutions and picture quality" At training they told us this only works with the AV100 and only have one connection with that cameras at a time. But you can do it but your frame rates drop drastically ( they didn't design that cameras for this)...... They talked about adding it to the SDK for 3rd part software. But using Exacq I will not need it anyway and if I need web camera features I would use Mobotix. -

thewireguys replied to TVEngineer77's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Actually, the SAFEST way is not to open up your network to outsiders at all - cameras pushing their streams out to an external webserver eliminates the need to open ANY outside ports or give ANYONE else, ANY kind of direct access to your NVR or cameras. The IQ511 I have here on my desk will push time-lapse stills to an ftp server at minimum 1s intervals, effectively the equivalent of 1fps. Such a method would give coherent "video" to the webserver with relatively minimal bandwidth requirements - all the load would be on the remote webserver. Sign up with GoDaddy or a hosting site like that, a little HTML code to display the images, and away you go. Still much easier using the NVR software.... and no monthly fees -
IP video servers even better, so you can use any camera you like. True but he asked for LPR. With one megapixel camera you can get the plate and the car. If you go with analog you could need 2 cameras one dedicated to the plate and another for an overall shot to get the car. Why use 2 cameras when you can do it with one? And if you need low light you can add IR to for the megapixel camera.

As I mentioned earlier, take a look at Ubiquiti products, the NanoStation M especially, it is perfect for your application, you can use a single PoE injector to power the transmitter and IP camera. As far as the heat, I'm in California's central valley, (summers above 110 degrees), and the stuff works fine. It is made for wireless internet service providers, and one of the biggest online forum contributors on Ubiquiti's site runs a WISP in Texas. For the camera side, Acti on the low side and Panasonic, Arecont, and Mobotix on the higher side have worked well for me. For a hybrid or NVR solution, take a look at Exacq. +1

"I assume I can connect to a single camera via a web browser provided I have the right IP address and port forwarding setup, thus bypassing any NVR software frontend" Not with Arecont cameras Am I missing point ? If he wants to connect direct to Arecont camera why not ? I would never recommend this anyway for reasons stated by others Arecont cameras are security cameras not web cameras..... You can only pull one stream from the cameras and you will never get full frame rates connecting to the web interface on Arecont cameras.
