  1. Why do you want to use wireless? What are these cameras for? If you are thinking about installing a couple if wireless cameras in a office building or a home your not gonna have a reliable system. Remember even though the data maybe wireless you still have to power the camera so unless the camera is on the other side of a parking lot on a pole with power you should run a wire for data. YOU MUST DO A SITE SURVEY BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING ELSE. no offense to blackhole37 but that stuff is junk I don't recommend a IP camera with built in wireless. Pick the camera analog or IP then pick the wireless AP that will work in your environment. Now if your just don't this for a hobble go a head a try the cheap stuff I may or may not work, it may work some time, or it way work for 3 months and then just stop. If your serious about security hire a professional that has experience with WIFI and IP cameras
  2. It will work for a while but not for ever box cameras need to be install in housings with heaters/blowers when installed outdoors. Something like this would work but you would have to find the one for box cameras http://www.videolarm.com/family_item.jsp?content=195

Need help with system re-design please!!

There is 3 Megapixel cameras that I can recommend 2 of them I have used and installed the other one guys on the forum say it performs well. depending on the light levels yes you will have to add IR or white light Arecont 3130/3135 (the 3135 is the h.264 version that was just announced at ASIS I don't know when it will be available) Mobotix M12/D12 Images from both cameras http://www.cctvforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=17201&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=arecont&start=0 Panasonic WV-NP502 (have not used this camera yet) images http://www.cctvforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=17863&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=panasonic&start=0

Need help with system re-design please!!

Think that might be part of the problem Don't take offense to this but your used to better image quality that just isn't possible in CCTV. Megapixel cameras are a big step forward but they still have there drawbacks. I use Arecont cameras for outdoor megapixel cameras http://www.arecontvision.com/ Here is there pixel density chart this might help you out http://www.arecontvision.com/uploads/file/Arecont%20Camera,%20Lens,%20and%20Pixel%20Density%20Chart%20-%20English.pdf

Interesting...... Did you have a budget for the installers for this system? Do you need good night time images? Anyhow, I have questions like: Do you think switching to IP cameras with a high megapixel would work better? Megapixel cameras will definitely give you a more detailed image but they are going to cost a lot more and you will have to change out your DVR and start all over. Do you think getting a DVR that does MJPEG would be better? I would recommend H.264 for compression with IP/Megapixel cameras.... you would see about 60% reduction in storage over MJPEG Is using analog composite video from the cameras a bad idea nowadays? Not at all..... Megapixel cameras can do give you 2 major advantages over analog . Give you more detail in the same FOV or cover a larger area will the same detail. But you will have more storage requirements and you will have to add IR or white light to get really good night time images. Also you will need a progressive scan camera to get good stills on moving objects with the right lighting and exposure settings
  7. I would recommend you ask that in the Geovision threads http://www.cctvforum.com/viewforum.php?f=36

    Mobotix Q24 with images

Im going by these images, like i said they must be heavily compressed or resized. Just curious, how many CCTV systems have you setup? Rory they are not the full image i just pulled them off Mobotix's website. I don't do to much with analog unless we have to Bars/clubs and super low light stuff. Megapixel is we it's at right now we are concentrating on IP based solutions for everything .... Just finished up another Megapixel install for a police station I beat the other analog resolution IP system bids by $12,000 It sucks you have all the taxes and shipping fees so you can't get your hands on some of this stuff.

  10. Ended up never getting this However, I looked again on their website and found it. So here is the powerpoint presentation on how to set up the Acti cameras for best video quality. (its 37mb) Enjoy http://www.acti.com/download_file/Product/support/%7B292EB505-34C8-4EE2-9F5E-C997CBCC062.PPT EDIT - ITs also from 2007 sorry I didn't have time but I am glad you found it
  11. What is the cost (retail)? pricing on there web site http://www.mobotix.com/eng_US/content/view/full/37540
  12. The Mobotix setup can handle that with no moving parts, Megapixel images built-in storage and NVR, if you really what to get into it you could use the trigger input to only record when the car is off and use the trigger output to a relay and the fuel pump to shut the car off if you setup remote access with a 3g card...... hell with the VOIP sip capabilities if some one steals your car you program the camera to call your cell phone and have a 2 conversation with them as your turning off the fuel pump. You could also use the Q24 for a one camera solution 360degree solution.
  13. Maybe that's why ACTi's cameras are so cheap. They don't spend as much on development IE only. If your looking for NVR software they will work on a Mac check out ExacqVision. http://www.exacq.com/index.html

    NUUO Mini CSA approved

You could try United Digital Technology they always get back to me quick.
  16. Thanks for the update. The Mini only works with IE so I doubt it will work with mobile devices
  17. Is mobile viewing possible with the MINI?

Dome Camera with 360 Degree Coverage

You need there special DVR for recording

Dome Camera with 360 Degree Coverage

The Arecont is not full 360 there is a dead spot directly below the camera. Just looked at Soundys link never saw that camera before I think everyone else uses special lens on there cameras to get the 360 then you have to use special software to dewarp the image and some software requires a separate server to so this. Mobotix does all of the dewarping and recording in the camera.

    Mobotix Q24 with images

Luxriot actually supports the Mobotix camera I have... but I may use MxControlcenter to record directly to NAS. I have Terabytes of network storage that I'm not using. I'm going to play with this one to get a feel for what it will do... and I will probably take you up on that offer. I have to figure out exactly which areas I want to cover and measure some distances/angles. One very important thing with Mobotix cameras do not lose the Admin or Supervisor password. There is no way for you to reset back the the default password even if you do a factory default. It is a security measure Mobotix implemented so if someone would steal the camera they can't see the recorded video stored in the camera. And I understand that turning off the microphone is likewise permanent. Why is that? You have two options with the mic turn it off and destroy it. If you destroy it there is no way to turn it back on. They did this because every camera has the ability to record audio and they needed to provide proof that the mic was no working and somebody couldn't just log in and turn it back on.

    Mobotix Q24 with images

No no... you're not the only one. I've been looking at a solution for the front of my home... and can't quite decide which way to go. Arecont supposedly has the newest H.264 version of their dual-imager coming out, but nobody seems to have it. Mobotix has their Dual-imager models, but I'd never had the opportunity to play with one... and at $1500 a pop, there was no way I was going to buy one, and then find out it wasn't what I needed. I finally had the opportunity to pick up a used Mobotix camera (scratched dome, previously-installed, but still functional), and I've been starting to play with it. I have to say, this thing has more settings than any camera I've ever seen. Mine is a day-only model, but the images are terrific. I'm particularly intrigued by the VOIP capability of these things, but will need to purchase an extra module for my camera to test it out. What model to you have? D22M-Secure (day version) with the wide-angle lens (4.0mm). I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it yet... maybe mount it in my garage. Incidentally, is the M12 Dualnight the same camera as the D12 dualdome, except the latter is in a dome form-factor? I have a place on my home for a dome... and it has to be B&W for night-time (it will be focused on the parking area for my vehicle). If the dualdome could focus on one area for daytime (maybe a wide angle shot), and another area (with a narrower focus) for night, that would allow me to keep my current PTZ and simply add the Mobotix dome as an additional camera with additional coverage. My existing PTZ is inadequate to cover the area where I park my vehicle, and I also don't think its night performance is even close to the equal of a dedicated B&W Mobotix sensor. Yep same camera and yes you can get different lens on the color and B/W sensors. PM me and I will see what I can do for you. Welcome to Mobotix security Does your current NVR software support Mobotix or are you gonna your MxControlcenter?
