Mobotix Q24 with images
thewireguys replied to thewireguys's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Interesting..... right now they use the internal ring buffer for the failover but as you know its limited to 50M or 64M. I guess they will give use the option to select the location SD or internal storage. How do you sell the product compared to standard camera systems? What do you customers thoughts on the setup when you are competed. -

Advice for Displaying a Megapixel Camera on a 720P TV
thewireguys replied to playground consulting's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Well you will need a computer or video decoder to display the video on the TVs..... if you use a camera with a composite video output (nether Axis or Arecont has this) your only gonna have analog resolution on the tvs. Also you will want to use cat5 and a computer network to get this to work. -

For Those Experienced with NVR Mini - Feedback Needed
thewireguys replied to 3RDIGLBL's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
The LAN connection is not a problem it is a 10/100/1000 port. They are a great low cost low frame rate solution. I have a 8 channel system installed in a bar with a 4 channel Axis encoder and the customer uses his laptop to view the cameras remotely on a cable connection or he connects using the wireless network. It works perfect for his needs and gives him the ability to upgrade to MP cameras down the road. Would I have sold him this system if he needed 30FPS and 5MP cameras NO but for 4 B/W cameras recording at 6fps and the ability to add 4 1.3MP or 2MP for outside coverage it works great. The nice thing about using one Mini is he doesn't need any client software he can just use the web interface which is very handy for him so he can hop one any computer and see his cameras. If you install more then one Mini and you want to see the cameras all in one interface you need to use the client software. -
How to setup ACTI camera for different lighting conditions
thewireguys replied to thewireguys's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
You might have a defective camera or some setting is wrong because I have installed numerous 4201's and haven't had any latency problems. The 4201 is not a low light camera so the solution is don't install it in a low light area and if you do add white light. Guys these cameras work fine when you install them in there intended conditions. They are a $300 1.3 MP color camera with build-in audio and POE. -

Recording directly to NAS or SAMBA shares - without NVR/DVR
thewireguys replied to kaon's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Mobotix does this very well. They designed there system from the ground up to do this with there own codec. I forget all the techno mumbo jumbo but they write to the hard drive differently which makes things very efficient unlike using a Axis camera to FTP so a server. Also you don't even need a NAS or shared folder if you use a SD card and you don't need long term storage. They can support 32 sd cards now which is more then enough for most small business and residential setups. Also all of the cameras have a internal ring buffer so if the storage location becomes unavailable the camera will automatically storage the images in internal memory until the storage location comes back on line.... Perfect for WAN and wireless connections. I now have a M12 and a Q24 which I plan to test every feature possible ( gonna take forever) but it will be worth it. Right now I have both cameras recording to 2 internal 4 gig SD cards and it works perfect. To the person that said Mobotix cameras are to expensive you are correct if you look at them just as cameras but they are not. Mobotix cameras can do things that no other camera manufacture can. They are a state of the art integrated security system with one of the best images out there. You can scale there system from one to thousands of cameras, add VOIP capabilities, logic built in to cameras and you have a very powerful distributed security system. Just to give you guys an idea the M12 comes with 2 manuals one is 92 pages and the other one is 288 pages. These are just for the camera nothing to do with MxControlcenter. -

This is not a night time camera...... One of the best features about this camera is it doesn't look like a camera and it can go out doors. -

Arecont latest rumors :) or news
thewireguys replied to ak357's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Yep... I'm trying to decide between that camera and the Mobotix dual-night. For that kind of money, I'll have to see some images before I pull the trigger. The only reason I am not going with the M12 is it doesn't integrate with my NVR software....... Mobotix image quality is better then Arecont but you don't have H.264 but if you use a complete Mobotix solution it doesn't matter. -

I hope the 3135 is released soon.... need 2 of them an install -
Exacq has one on there demo server, so here is a day time image for you. I will check it later to see if it switches to B/W. interestingly I think this is a 1.3 megapixel camera that can send 3megapixel images not video becuase I try to change the image size to 3 megapixel and 1280*960 is the highest image setting. I don't know if that is a Exacq limitation (with this camera) or the camera but after reading the spec sheet I am thinking its the camera.
