Suggestions for $1,000 day/night outdoor IP camera?
thewireguys replied to cglaeser's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I'm not sure I understand your comment. Who is we? Yes, they need light, but some security cameras can see well below 1 lux. Just wish it had the functionality of an Axis (e.g. ftp images directly to a NAS based on motion events) and I would buy a few. I would prefer not to run NVR software on a PC if I can avoid it. I really like the distributed computing approach of the Axis and Mobotix. My Axis cameras are attached to the net and store directly to the NAS based on motion events without any additional software or computer. Yes, the high end Axis PTZ cameras have good low light capability (though not megapixel) and the new Axis P3344 looks promising. The spec says 0.05 lux, but does not specify the shutter speed. Given that the slowest shutter speed is 1/6s and assuming that's the shutter speed they used to measure the 0.05 lux, that would translate to 0.5 lux at 1/60s. Probably not as good as the AV3130, but considerably better than the Axis 223M, which is approximately 25 lux at 1/60s. Do you have any plans to test a P3344? Best, Christopher If you send me one How do you view then images the you send to the NAS? -

The bigger version is the old model. Also Arecont OEMs for CBC and Bosch so they have different form factors. Current Arecont 3130 Bosch OEM CBC/Ganz OEM -
Suggestions for $1,000 day/night outdoor IP camera?

The AV3130 can't really see it total darkness. What they mean by 0 lux is that it is sensitive to IR. It's a poor way to specify that a camera is IR capable. By that measure, my Axis 223M is also 0 lux. The data sheet on the Arecont website does not specify the minimum lux rating for BW, but there are older data sheets on the web that specify 0.01 lux for BW. However, once again, there is no shutter speed associated with the 0.01 lux rating, so it really doesn't mean that much. There is a huge difference between 0.01 lux at 1/60s and 0.01 lux at 2s. Shutter speeds and lux values by themselves are of little value. To be meaningful, they need to be specified in pairs. Mobotix has taken the lead on this, and specify their lux values with associated shutter speeds. Companies like Axis do not include shutter speed with their lux values, and companies like Arecont don't even list lux value in their latest AV3130 data sheet. 0 lux. Yeah right. Thank you Mobotix!!!! Best, Christopher Well if there was more time in the day I could setup a demo . I have a M12 and 3130 and the I think the 3130 has a better night time image but the M12 has a better day time image. Plus you get better frame rates with the 3130. If the lux level is below 1 or 2 we are adding IR or white light. Cameras need light for quality images with out motion blur. If you put the 3130 in and set it up correctly you will not be disappointed. I like Axis cameras alot but besides the 214 and 233 there night images suck. -
Megapixel IP Camera Help
thewireguys replied to serial's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
We couldn't revert back because 4.0 doesn't support AV5105 and I know it wasn't a camera issue because it works fine with Areconts software and the new software. They handled it very well and gave me a refund so I am not upset with them in anyway and when I see 4.1 working I will sell it again. -

Megapixel IP Camera Help
thewireguys replied to serial's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
System was build to specs it was running fine for 8 months on 4.0 then when we added more cameras and upgraded 4.1 it just blue-screened everyday until we took the software off. VI support tried to fix it for a 2 weeks and no matter what they did they couldn't fix it. My customer was fed up so we switched software and blue screens stopped. Support and developers thought it was and issue with the Arecont camera. I just wanted to see if you had any problems with 4.1. I really like there software and support but something wasn't right -

Also if you can wait for the 3135 you will reduce your storage cost with the h.264 support. Also one more thing to keep in mind with the Arecont 3130/3135 there are no moving parts like the 7411 or any camera with a mechanical cut off filter. -
Megapixel IP Camera Help
thewireguys replied to serial's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
If you need low light capability go with the 3130. Also I would recommend a linksys SFE1000P POE switch don't go cheap on the networking gear. The Acti 7411 is a great camera for the price but the 3130 is better. VST_MAN have you had any problems with VI 4.1? -

What is the minimum lux rating? Unless I'm overlooking it, the AV3130 specification does not mention the minimum lux rating for BW. Also, what is the minimum shutter speed? These manufacturers make it virtually impossible to do an apples-apples low light comparison. Best, Christopher Minimum Lux for B/W is 0 and here some info on shutter speed Low Light Mode is a group of options to adjust camera’s operation under low light conditions: a) High Speed enables the shortest exposure, selectable from a drop-down list “Short Exposure†-

IP camera Software
thewireguys replied to CCTV_Suppliers's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
THERE IS NO KNOWN OR ACCEPTABLE PLATFORM THAT EVERYONE HAS AGREED OR WANTS TO AGREE!. If some of the industry leaders smarten up one of these days and come up with basic rules of conduct on platform, that will solve this issue once and for all! Beta vs vhs / blu-ray vs HD dvd same thing as ONVIF vs PSIA as soon as they pick one NVR programmers can stop spending time on supporting cameras and work on new features which will reduce costs. Lets address this above scenario and not that it is a good one anyway. Exacq is asking to have someone to spend $1,000 just on the software side without any consideration for the cameras cost, the cost of the server and the storage... Where is the benefit for anyone with simple common sense to even consider this option? Do you think really that this price range should be acceptable for ordinary Joe or this is a pricing for mid-range or high-end customers? Do the math and tell me if this makes any sense... I do not think so. Basic cost structure for this package forces someone to consider complete package cost for more than $2,000... compared to most cases such package cost using analog solution is less than $1,000... Where is the benefit to consider this software or any other out there that are using this type of cost structure? Where are the benefits if someone please can explain? Also you can use ACTi cameras there software is free but I wouldn't use it. You could also use Mobotix and there free software. But your stuck using there cameras and there limited features. This is even more interesting now... Are you suggesting that to use Exacq software, there are "installation" and "upgrade" costs and that the end user now have to pay for these services? You and other know this product inside and out, thus give you an opportunity to sell it, plus installation costs, plus IP cameras costs, server and storage hardware, etc... Exactly what will it cost to have cheapest four IP cameras package price to include all these products and services? Over $2,000? over $3,000 or more? I have two types of customers. IT/network admins and the average Joe. The IT guys install the software themselves and we setup the software. Average Joe has a hard time turning on there computer let alone installing updates. Can the average Joe install Linux? I think it will be along time before people will install and setup there NVR software them themselves. We are professionals and they hire us becuase of that. You can get ACti megapixel indoor color only cameras for $225 or non-megapixel for $175. So $1200-$1400 without labor for a ACTi setup. But once you use Exacq or other software you wouldn't use the ACTi software. You get what you pay for. -
IP camera Software
thewireguys replied to CCTV_Suppliers's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I have no problem with Exacq's pricing and I think it is fair. What I have a problem with is the company's that charge a server license, client license, and per camera fee. The prices will come down when the ONVIF vs PSIA battle is over. Because right now every time a new camera comes out or firmware update is released the NVR software has to come out with a patch to support the new/updated cameras. It's not like there making Tonka Trucks, there programmers constantly have to be updating code. How are they going to pay there programmer without some form a recurring revenue. I guess they could come up with 4 camera packages but they are going to build that into the price anyway. So I would rather have the option like you do with Exacq. Example 4 camera system 5 year if updates Exacq pricing 150$ x 4 =$600 + $400(optional updates) = $1000 for 4 cameras or they could just charge $250 per license. Also who is going to come onsite and configure the updates? Should that be free to? The only time you need updates is if you are adding new cameras or you would want new features. So if I buy a car and I want to make it faster should the dealer give me free parts? No -

Before and after IP upgrade pics?
thewireguys replied to bpzle's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Vivotek 6111 ( D1 resolution IP camera) Acti 7411 (1.3 megapixel IP camera) Funny you bring this up because we are going to setup a demo using Exacq software and different cameras so we can easily show the value of megapixel cameras. The best part if this is the 2 cameras are the same price. Acti has a better image the Vivotek has more features. -

Problem with Picture on 16 camera install
thewireguys replied to ericm23's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Fire panels are direct wire 110V and NAC circuits are 24VAC or DC. Unless they ran the power for the panel with your wire I don't think this the cause of your problem. Do you have two of these you could try with your power supply and DVR to see if you have a ground loop
