This where IP cameras shine Any way to use a hybrid DVR with 2 megapixel cameras for LPR? Do you have line of site?

As system from Costco will never never meet your needs. I know you didn't say that but, only a professional system with IR or flood lights will meet your requirements. What is your budget? What is the field of view that you want facial recognition?

has anyone used the Pelco IP access control product
thewireguys replied to jeromephone's topic in General Access Control Discussion
I like how you can have 2 readers on the same unit. Can't do that with EDGE or Isonas. Info on the company and Pelco's involvement. http://www.infinias.com/main/LinkClick.aspx?fileticket=L8jvqK4gOSc%3d&tabid=61&mid=390 -

thewireguys replied to thewireguys's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Your welcome. Configured the right way, and if your software allows, you can almost just use the Joystick and buttons without the need for the Keyboard and mouse... Thats what I am hoping for..... I have a customer that isn't go good with computers so I am hoping I can replace the keyboard and mouse with this -

I know you said you not interested in solar power but these guys are worth a look. http://www.sunsurveillance.com/index.html Also I know you said you wanted a DVR but take a look a Mobotix there cameras only draw 3.5watts so you will need a lot less battery's. Also if your going to build your own don't forget to use a low-voltage disconnect. here is a demo of there setups with a Sony and Mobotix camera. http://www.sunsurveillance.com/demo.html

Researchers Hack IP Video
thewireguys replied to Squiffy's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
But you still need access to the LAN correct? If you setup your IP cameras on a separate LAN and removed it from WAN access how would you do it? Also wouldn't a DVR with a network jack substitutable to the same type of attack? I understand that you can hack ip cameras hell you can hack anything on the network with enough time, money and effort. So as a security professional how do we prevent this from happening. -
Help with a new IP system
thewireguys replied to Dilan's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
This is alittle high. Acti 1.3 megapixel cameras have a maximum bandwidth of 6megs with Arecont h.264 less then that. -
Researchers Hack IP Video
thewireguys replied to Squiffy's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
But they would still need to hack the wireless network first correct? Could this be prevented if you use Axis cameras and enable https and IEEE 802.1X? I am not that concerned about this if the hacker needs access to the LAN. What is the difference with an analog system and the hacker splicing into the coax? And I would like to know how we could prevent an attack like this. -

Wouldn't you need to have access to the LAN for this type of attack? -
Ip Cameras, NAS Storage and few other questions

Ip Cameras, NAS Storage and few other questions
thewireguys replied to maysky's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
But you need to have a camera that can support recording directly to a NAS device consumer or professional it doesn't matter. As for as I know Mobotix is the only manufacture that can do this without having a dedicated PC running all the time. Hell depending in your storage requirements you wouldn't even need a NAS box becuase you can have the images stored directly on the camera without any computers running 24/7. -
Help need advice on what to get
thewireguys replied to streethacker's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I am assuming you are talking about motion blur and it all depends on your exposure settings and how much IR or white light you have or are willing to add. My customer is very happy with the image from that camera with the current light conditions. If you need a turn key solution I can recommend the ExacqVision Desktop IP Server for a small setup. Please check your PM -

thewireguys posted a topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions

frame rate arecont Vision 3105
thewireguys replied to rak313's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Supermicro makes some top shelf gear. I've been building systems with their products for many years. I just got my SC743T-R760B case in yesterday so I'm ready to put together a new Supermicro Xeon box. A Xeon proc definitely makes easy work of processing video and boosting framerate. At a great price too. Think I paid 1400 for everything but the OS. -
frame rate arecont Vision 3105
thewireguys replied to rak313's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Sorry I didn't have time to focus the camera but I wanted to show you that I could get 60+ fps with a Arecont camera and there software. Once the camera is focused FPS should go up. I am using a Supermicro server, single quad core xeon, with 4 gigs of ram and I don't know if this makes a difference but I am RDP'd into the machine. Also I the camera is powered with POE from a linksys switch then a gigbit link to my main Zyxel gigbit switch where the server is plugged into. 800x600 400x300 -
I am digging the Mobotix product but I haven't found it that user friendly yet and the frame rates are low. (I haven't played with the new series with double frame rates) I think Exacq would work perfect on a micro pc with a Arecont camera.

Anybody have any info or links to very small PCs?

What resolution is that ? (maybe 720x480?) Yes .... at that resolution you should get close to 60fps -
