"These cameras are supposed to be capable of picking up video in no light situations and adjust when light becomes available" There is no such camera!!!! All cameras need some form a light... visible or IR to give you good images unless you go with a thermal camera. I would recommend the Arecont 3130 with IR illumination or the soon to be released 3135. We setup properly Arecont cameras have an amazing image. You have a IP based system installed so I see no need to install analog cameras unless absolutely have to. IP cameras have come a long way in the last 3 years. Sounds you don't have a lot of experience with IP camera systems so this isn't going to be a walk in the park for you. Are simply replacing existing cameras or adding new ones? You are going to have a hard time getting support from ONSSI without attending there training. Also if you start adding more cameras you are going to have to thing about storage, bandwidth, POE, and setting up new cameras in the software.

I am going to go out on a limb here are suggest a Arecont Megapixel camera at location #2. You could us the 3105DN with a IR illuminator and with a 50mm lens you will have a FOV of 26ft at 150ft feet out with a pixel density of 50 which is more then enough to read license plates Do you plain on using LPR software?

Help needed on Analog and IP camera system
thewireguys replied to ImaginationConceptsInc's topic in System Design
That will be a good low cost IP camera system if you don't need any vandal resistance. I would use one big switch instead of 3 smaller ones if you can. One thing to keep in mind when using Exacqvision software is you must use the client software to view recorded footage. -
Why do you have to go wireless? Check our Aboundi. They make a Ethernet over power line system the is capable of 200Mbps. I have been using and testing it in my house of about 6 months and it works great with IP cameras. Also you could use AXIS M7001 Covert Surveillance Kit or what ever small analog camera you like. I can put you in contact with the owner of the company if you would like a demo kit. http://www.electric-connect.com/index.html

Did you look at any other NVR software for this job and if you did why did you go with ONSSI?
-
Do they have a NVR or DVR from Onssi? If your going IP after attending Arecont training I would recommend the 3130 or the soon to be released 3135. When that camera is setup properly it works very well in low light and with IR light.

Ip Cameras, NAS Storage and few other questions
thewireguys replied to maysky's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Mobotix has the ability to record directly to a NAS... Panasonic does not have the ability record directly to a NAS..... You will have to have a NVR to record video from that camera. You might be able to upload images to a ftp on a NAS but it will only be images and not very user friendly to review recorded images. -

I would recommend you look at Mobotix. There cameras can record strait to a NAS or locally to the camera. -
frame rate arecont Vision 3105
thewireguys replied to rak313's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I'll try a direct connect (crossover cable) later, but I need to find a power source. Personally I have a hard time thinking this is it, as the data rate (in arecont vision software) says only a paultry 3-10 mbps. I did a thruput test between my acer-one netboot and this PC (direct connect via crossover) and got around 11 MBytes/sec, which is full 100 mbps wire speed. So I know the PC side can handle it. I will try the same test via the switch and see what that gives. Just tried ftping a file from my acer aspire-one (wimpy netbook) to my PC through the Netgear switch. Transfered a 300 Mbyte file in 27 seconds (11 Mbyte/sec). This is essentially full wire speed. so I don't blame the switch. ----------------------------------------------------------------- You probably know this but decide to mention anyway make sure that AV100 soft and Luxriot don't run together and AV100 win service is off u don't want 2 software fighting for the same stream No, I'm not that smart, I did get caught on this. I had the LR server running while running the aV100 software. I just got the camera last week and am very new to this. Update: I set the LR video resolution to "half" and now get ~14 fps (1024 x 768). Still a far cry from 32 but much higher. I then removed the Netgear switch, powered the av3105 from a 13.8V supply, and used a crossover cable to go to directly to my PC. I get the same rate ~14-14.5 fps with 135 kbytes/frame. Also, you might ask "why do I want such a high frame rate"?, Well it all has to do with seeing at night. I plan on sending back the 3105 in favor of the 3130. I only have about 0.5 LUX in the intended area I'm trying to cover. (I expect I can't solve this and will need external IR lighting). The pixels of the 3130 (mono) are 2.6x the area of those on the 3105. Also the mono sensor does not have color filters (3x sensitivity). So in theory, I should get 8x increase in sensitivity at night with the 3130. Finally, assume you need < 1/30 sec exposure to freeze motion. and you only recorded at 5 fps. You are throwing away 5/6 of the available light. No big deal in the daytime, but at night could mean the difference in being able to identify or not. (each frame is still low quality, but when played at speed, your brain will integrate). I have a backup camera on my car that works quite well in the same light. I'm guessing its 30 fps. Thanks again for all you help. One final thought, I haven't noticed a play @2x speed or 5x speed on the LR. Seems pretty basic and simple. Am I missing it? Rick I have tested and installed the AV5105 and the 3130. You are going from a 5 megapixel image to a 1.3 megapixel image so you will see a big difference in image quality between the two. I know when I use Arecont cameras with cheap switches we have always got poor FPS so I am interested to see your results with the 3130. The 3130 will be alittle better at night but it will be a much smaller image. -
Mobotix cameras with images
thewireguys replied to thewireguys's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I am going to call my local Avigilon rep and find out more info. But the one thing Mobotix has over Avigilon is the built-in NVR and the ability to record directly to a NAS. So without knowing the prices of Avigilon I would think Mobotix would be cheaper because you don't need the server. -

Mobotix cameras with images
thewireguys replied to thewireguys's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I think they are 2 different products. Mobotix has some very interesting VOIP and automation features that we are looking into. Also the Q24 camera with the fish eye lens and built-in NVR are very cool. The best part if this camera is you are recording the entire image and you can PTZ around the live and recorded footage. Avigilon I think has better image quality but buy the time you put there cameras in housings and build an NVR you are going to be spending more money then a Mobotix setup. -
frame rate arecont Vision 3105
thewireguys replied to rak313's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Arecont cameras do not like more then one stream opened at one time. You will see a significant drop in frame rates if you have your NVR software recording and you are logged into the web interface at the same time. Please try the direct connection to the camera and let us know your results. -

Need help designing an IP camera system
thewireguys replied to gfdcxgfd's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I would recommended ACTi for your project and price point. If you go with Arecont your going to be spending around 1000$ a camera (camera, lens and housing). ACTi you will be looking at $600-700 range but they only have 1.3 megapixel cameras. I can recommend the ACM-1231 and the ACM-7411 for outdoors and low light. No housing or lens required with these cameras. You do not need a DVR card with IP cameras. You need a computer, NVR software, POE switch, and cameras. Also for a cheap recording solution that works check out the NUUO MiniNVRs. For under $1000 you can get a 4 channel NVR with 1TB of storage in a plug and play solution. -

Somethings not right. I had the Arecont DN5105 and the 3130 with to 1.3 megapixel ACTi's on the Nuuomini 4 channel version and I wasn't experiencing anything that you are. What raid controller are you using? -
Yes I can sell you the software and/or the cameras.
